Don was met full force by another body that tackled him to the ground, his arms pinned down, making it difficult for him to try to push this person off him. He recognized the red cross common for combat medics, but who the hell was this guy? 

He squirmed under him, grunting as he tried to break free, moving wildly. “What? Who are you? What the hell is going on?” he hissed. Noting the hint of desperation in the medic’s voice, he obeyed in keeping his voice low, but still wanted answers.

He continued shooting at the Germans hiding behind the machine gun nest, brushing off Wade’s comment. Reiben fired a series of rounds. Before taking cover behind the sandbags, he raised his rifle once more and fired another shot. 

The German soldier collapsed to the ground, sending a small wave of relief through his body. It was one less that they’d have to worry about. 

He sat back, checking his stained sleeve. A bullet must have grazed him earlier, but he hadn’t felt anything. He peered over their cover, immediately ducking as a spray of bullets whizzed over his head. “Fuckin’…” he muttered to himself. He glanced at Wade, who pointed out his wound once more. “I’m fine, it’s nothin’. It doesn’t hurt, Wade. Pinky promise,” he smirked.

He grimaced as he adjusted his helmet, knowing that if he didn’t let Wade take a look the captain would surely give him some hell. Deciding to spare himself the lecture, he sighed and set his rifle aside. “Fine, take a look if it’ll make ya stop worrying.”
