Some days Alek wondered if the Ashcraft family was cursed, how much loss they endured and in one lifespan. He did envy those with large families that hadn’t experienced much loss. How he wished that that could have been him and his, but yet again they were losing a loved one. His dad this time had finally left their lives. It was hard on him, but he worried about his cousin, who was more like a little sister to him than anything else, Amela. She’d lost her parents, his mother who was her aunt and now she was losing her uncle. He’d had to leave for a briefing from the commander on the rebel encampment, but as soon as he could he definitely returned to check on her.

Alek made his way over, his face free of any expression, not wanting to worry her. He wanted to keep her safe and give her the opportunity he didn’t have, which would be to grieve without the weight of all of this on her shoulders. “Hey, I didn’t mean to cut out like that but I was getting a briefing on something. How are you doing?” He asked, his arm moving around her shoulders as he gave her a sideways hug. @ladyamela​
