AT THE DOORWAY Yesterday, the top pen door was left unlatched and when I looked out the window, the door was ajar and all of the younger pullets were out in the yard. I hadn’t let them out yet, most are big enough, but a few are quite small still.
This is an Ameracauna standing at the doorway, instead of rounding them up I went out and sat out in the yard with them for an hour or so and let them explore. Then I moved inside the pen doorway. I like their curiosity, and that occasionally the big tom would waddle up the hill and run them back inside :)
Chickens, they grow up fast.
