death: what are three things you want to do before you die?
This is a toughie. I think I kinda stopped having big dreams after I got sick and just kinda resigned myself to being happy with a quiet life. That said, thinking about it some more, I think this would be my list (it’s a lil wordy, sorry):
Create or have a hand in creating something that makes the world a better place. I don’t care how big or small of a difference it makes. I don’t care if no one else ever knows I’ve been involved. I just want to know that I did everything I could to leave the world a better place than I found it.
I would love to retrace the path my dad’s ancestors took from Syria to Turkey to the Greek Islands and all the way to Scotland. Most of my ancestry is purely Scottish, which I’m super proud of, and I am hugely privileged to know a LOT about the lives of those ancestors, but I know next to nothing about this aspect of my identity beyond some merchant navy records.
Some day, I really want to live in a ramshackle cottage in the woods. I love nature. I love the forest and streams and wet grass and moss and ivy. The idea of being able to walk for miles and not see another single human soul makes my heart incredibly happy.
