I thought it would be nice to share one of my TikTok animations with you, runway walk meme :3 I really liked this trend, so I decided to draw it with Ragatha because I love her so much! (song: "Runway Walk" by Demrick)
"Resident Evil: Damnation" - review (spoiler: I love this movie!!)
Can we talk about how INCREDIBLY AWESOME this movie was? I haven't been this excited about a movie since "Frankenstein" came out. Seriously, I had a lot of fun watching it. I laughed, I was moved, I laughed some more, and then I was absolutely thrilled by what I saw on the screen.
This will definitely be one of my favorite movies this year.
Let's ignore the fact that it lasted 1 hour 40 minutes, but it took me about 3 hours because I was enjoying it so much that I had to rewatch some scenes.
The plot of the movie was really interesting and I liked the main theme. The idea of an improved parasite that allows you to control Lickers was something fresh and unusual. I liked the fact that it wasn't an absolutely powerful power, but rather had its consequences and some risk. This was presented very well. We're dealing with what we saw in Resident Evil 4, but improved. And as for the Lickers themselves, I love them. These were my favorite creatures from games and I love them here too. But why do they sound like donkeys? This caught me off guard and amused me a bit because it was so random and unexpected.
The characters in this film were brilliantly written. I'll skip Leon for now; I'll come back to him later. Besides him, my favorite character turned out to be JD. He was charming. Such a sweet, excited kid who doesn't really care about fighting, but is just enjoying the moment and being with his friends. I really liked his relationship with Leon, it was so adorable. Leon treated him with some reserve, but at the same time I had the impression that he treated him with some delicacy, some kind of indulgence? You know, like he was his little brother. And I think that under different circumstances, Leon would definitely "adopt" him as his younger brother, to whom he would tell stories about America and American inventions. I also liked JD for being such an innocent person, so dreamy and full of enthusiasm. In a way, he reminded me a bit of young Leon, although a bit more expressive, more open.
Sasha didn't make that much of an impression on me, although I admit he was an interesting character. Clear. I love morally grey heroes, and he was exactly that. He wanted to fight for good, but he was going about it a bit wrong. It was okay, although not perfectly pitched.
As for Ada, well... she didn't impress me. She was just there, I didn't really care about her to be honest.
And now my most favorite character (of course): Leon Scott Kennedy. He was absolutely gorgeous. I'd even go so far as to say he was classic Leon. With his specific sense of humor, his one liners, his distinctive way of commenting on things and of course his intelligence and strength. Some scenes were literally aura farming, but it was really well done and I liked it. I was super excited to watch him and was rooting for him. He was the one who made me smile and giggle the most. At times I thought: mother, the guy is impossible. The funny thing was that he acted like being held hostage was just some fun activity for him and he was having a good time. It was hilarious to watch. Okay, he definitely wasn't comfortable, but you know what I mean. I really love this character.
The main villain was okay, but it's a shame the president didn't get more screen time. I'm curious what her lore is like and all, but unfortunately it hasn't been shown very extensively. At the same time, she was kind of meh, didn't evoke any particular respect or other emotions in me, like Sadler from RE4, for example. I love Sadler. Or Heisenberg from Resident Evil 7, he's definitely one of my favorite villains.
The boss fight(s!) was interesting and I enjoyed it. It reminded me of classic Resident Evil, and the music was great. A very badass scene.
The ending surprised me a bit and I don't really know how to feel about it. On the one hand, okay, fine. On the other? Hmm, hello?? I don't know, I don't know.
But if I had to sum it up, I would say it was a really great movie and I had a lot of fun watching it. I definitely recommend it.
