Does Dust have a npc crew before he meets them or is he a solo captain of a ship that he can control with magic?

So! he had a crew before he became the Captain of The Shadow, but they were mercilessly slaughtered by The Shadow herself.
As a punishment for messing around with things he didn't understand, Dust was forced into the Captain position- kept alive, but forced to witness the death of the crew he led there.
His past crew was constructed of my own Sanses:
Stalker, from Stalkertale. Reserved, cold, dangerous- an endurance hunter, with a cracked mask covering his horrible face injury.
Void, from Undervoid. Not so much reserved as he is quiet. Tall, with a long tail that has an axehead for a tip. Very agile, very muchly silly.
Amity, from Amitytale. A cheery, light-hearted gremlin that's only dangerous and aggressive when he's fucked around with. he can go from 0 to 100 in a split-second, too fast for anyone to track, but a smile always remains on his face.
Dawn, from Darktale. Manipulative, amused, light-footed with rather sticky hands. He's a dangerous foe to have, but an incredibly loyal friend.
Of course there are more, but those are the ones I can remember! :D
The Shadow has a mind of her own, though is now forever connected to Dust's magic and visa-versa. So he doesn't need a crew, but he sure does get lonely sometimes, with only the voices of those lost to The Shadow to talk to.
