I randomly got "On My Way" stuck in my head earlier and it made me wanna draw Brother Bear fanart lol.
Anyway here's Kenai with a mate and cubs of his own. Also I wanna clarify that I hate Brother Bear 2 so no, his mate here isn't whatever-her-name-was from that movie. Her name is Amka and she's a bear Kenai met at the salmon run one year, although Amka was a loner due to having a tragic backstory where she had a former mate and a newborn litter of cubs who all ended up being killed by hunters (not hunters from Kenai's village but a different one), so she's distrustful and resentful of humans and therefore was initially cold towards Kenai since she knew he once was one himself.
Kenai does have an interest in her but sadly gets rejected due to his past as a human and he just sadly decides to accept it. Koda, however, likes the idea of them together so he tries to play matchmaker to them, something that ends up in embarrassing attempts to get Kenai to woo her that all go wrong. She's annoyed at first but does end up finding it charming and finds it sweet how close Kenai and his brother are. Meanwhile Kenai laments to himself about how he probably blew his chances with her, but to his surprise she approaches him and asks if they can spend the day together. They end up having a fun day together, and when night comes they share each other's tragic backstories and Kenai in particular confesses what he did to Koda's mom and the adventure they went on and how they became brothers.
Well as you can see here, Kenai and Amka become mates and have three cubs; a girl names Yuka (the one next to Koda), another girl named Kaya (the one next to Amka) and a boy named Sitka (yup, named after Kenai's brother).
And there's Uncle Koda with them as an adult.
Oh, and Kenai does eventually take Amka and their kids to meet Denahi, now that Amka's more trustful of certain humans and Kenai wants his brother to meet his wife and kids (maybe by then Denahi has a wife and kids of his own as well).
Also I wanna mention that even though I hate the sequel, me making Koda play matchmaker wasn't intended as a "fuck you" to the sequel for making Koda not want Kenai and his love interest from that movie to get together. Actually I do understand why Koda would get jealous of that; he's an orphan and his only family is Kenai, it's understandable that he'd be afraid of his adopted brother leaving him for a girl. It's a childish thought but he is a child, specifically a child who lost his mother in a traumatic way, so of course he's clinging hard to his only family.
The reason I changed Koda to being a matchmaker was just because as I was typing out the story I realized in this context it was the perfect role for him; Amka rejected Kenai and even though Kenai respects her wishes, he's still sad. Koda needs a role in this story, so what would make sense? Him trying to get them together!
