Managing to read through (more or less) two HK Cantonese centric books recently has given me more confidence to try more Chinese language books now! (◔‿◔)
Next up, I'm gonna try this Chinese translation of a Japanese novel called 《在雨和夢之後》 (After the Rain and Dream — Japanese title: 雨と夢のあとに), by 柳 美里 (Yū Miri).
Bought this book years ago (when a translation in a language I could more or less read, finally became available), after falling in love with the Japanese TV series from which it was based, even earlier.
I had kidded myself then that “I could read Chinese! So it's not going to be an impulse buy!”, but of course it was, and I ended up being too lazy and/or too intimidated to even try reading a few lines! 笑
It has been lying around my house collecting dust all these years… Well! It can finally see the light of day now! 笑 Good thing is, I can read this in solely Mandarin this time, which is at least better than my Cantonese, though not by much! 笑
Or I can “torture” myself and attempt to read this in my 半桶水 (half-baked) Cantonese again 笑…I really could do with more practise! But then, so does my Mandarin! I really ought to burn the candles at both ends! So to speak.
Ammy-sama, Bast, by the power of you Goddesses, I can get through this, right?
Ammy-sama and Bast are actually illiterate so…(~_~メ) can't count on them? 笑
