Ok but why are more people not talking about Rook and Viago’s banter during the final fight of Lucanis’s quest. I replayed that fight like ten times in a row just to hear it all.

V: Stop getting hit!

R: I’m not doing it on purpose!

V: Stop letting that fool win!

R: he’s never letting me live this down.

V: Don’t embarrass our house!

R: Sorry Viago!

Meanwhile Teia is all “Yes Rook hit him harder!” And Lucanis (as far as I know but I did romance him) as soon as the boss gets a big hit on Rook is all “I’ll kill you for that!”

This little crow family has ruined my aspirations of playing all the factions any time soon because I need to run through this again and slower and appreciate it more.

Maybe it’s the imaginary Crow Rook in me but I think it’s super sweet that when Crow Rook asks Lucanis

“What was it like training under the first talon?”

And he says “What was your own training like?”

And Rook replies “Torture”

Then Lucanis says “There you go.”

That it’s super super sweet that when Rook follows up with “and you don’t resent her for it?”

Lucanis says “not anymore” rather than being like do you resent Viago? It’s almost like he’s aware that’s a huge possibility and refuses to ask Rook to put her trauma out there like that in front of another member of the team.

Viago telling Rook he’s proud of them basically (don’t want to spoil his actual words) basically made my night. Especially since it followed up a dialogue choice I made where he was teasing them about not remembering the night they actually became a full crow. Which just makes me think big brother Viago was in full swing while drunk Rook was getting wild. Like he’s never escaping the big brother/dad softy vibes.

Something Veilguard got right was how Crow Rook reacts differently to all of the ziplines in Treviso than any other Rook.

In my HC Crow Rook teasing Lucanis about having two houses is hilarious because like… Viago definitely has two houses.

This is the man who wouldn’t be seen dead with a bottle of wine at least three times as expensive as this, who sends Rook to get info during an occupation at least a little for the art exposure and is also canonically arguably the most paranoid man in Thedas.

There’s no part of me that doesn’t headcannon that he has two houses he has the family villa where all the crows of House de Riva are welcome and all the crows in other houses think he lives and then he has his actual villa where he lives and only Rook knows about it. In fact when she finds Teia there one day during a sabbatical from the lighthouse that’s how she knows Viago is seriously serious about Teia because only two, now three, people in the world know of this house and who lives there.

Took Bellara to The Ossuary for the first time and she makes a comment about looking for another killer. Rooks reply? “Assassin. Murderers don’t usually get paid.” Lucanis in some party banter calls murderers hobbyists. You cannot convince me these two aren’t made for each other. Also the sass of the crows is strong.

Teia: please the floors of the diamond have suffered enough.

Only caught the tail end of this as I clicked x as I passed them…

Hang on hang on hold up. Are you telling me Viago, mr man of mystery and 1000 poisons likes to throw people from the rafters and watch them splat on the floor when they piss him off enough?!

Lucanis: I don’t know what she sees in me but I’m happy just being around her.

Lucanis has ruined me for any other romance options.
