Even more exceptionally silly poetry! I've celebrated the incredible Amon D'Syrcus of @spotofmummery before (and doubtless will do so again), but this time I thought we ought to give the limelight to the other star of that inestimable household - Cadu the Serpent!

Always ready to slither into your DMs, or at least your Asks, Cadu is a scaley source of support and succor for many. Not least for Amon, who he dutifully follows around, no matter how dramatic or perturbing the situation.

I have nothing but respect and affection for @spotofmummery - certainly one of the most well-known FFXIV blogs (also to be found in a number of other, increasingly unlikely, settings, from Pillowfort to Plastic Duck Simulator) and definitely one of the best. You're almost certainly already following this blog, but if you're not then now is the time to start!

Allie Lindblum and Amon D’syrcus have joined your party!

• Starting Dungeon: “You... kinda look familiar. Didn’t I fight you one time? I’ve definitely seen that hat before.”• Assisting: “I’ll help you pluck a few chords, don’t worry!”• Being Assisted: “Thanks, mister! I dunno what these mechanisms you’re throwing out are, but they’re handy!”• Idle Dialogue:  “How’d you get such a sharp tongue, anyhow? Do you play lots of instruments, or just the harp?”• Witnessing Amon KO: “I’ve... I’ve got a weird feeling I’ve seen you fall over like that before, too. I kinda want to steal your hat for it. Is that strange?”• Reviving Amon: “Up you get! I miss your music and your mirth already!”• Finishing Dungeon: “And that’s that! You might say that was something of a curtain call, huh? ...I couldn’t resist.”

Bonus Limit Break: Amon’s attempts to LB3 for gpose purposes might be somewhat thwarted when Allie lingers at the end of the dungeon for no real discernable reason. As a consequence, she can probably be seen in the background of Amon’s subsequent screenshots.

Bonus Idle: Alley will /hum or /dance when the party is waiting at a boss gate and Amon plays a tune.

Despite trouncing Amon every other day for sweet, sweet experience, Allie is more than happy to accompany him on a dungeon delve, especially with all he brings to the party! She will chuckle and giggle at his colourful commentary, all while making sure he is as safe as possible.

She is keen to hide Amon’s Hat in her armoury chest for fear of offending him.

So... @talechaser-ffxiv and @theaetherhealerffxiv drew the Amon... it was my turn to draw him. I suck so much when it comes to actually drawing clothes (It’s why most of my characters are ken dolls if I draw them >> or basic slap a pair of undies on them) but... challenge accepted basically.

Honestly... the main reason I wanted to doodle/sketch Amon was because I wanted to play with his hat. Because giant and ridiculous hats/feathers/details are things I enjoy >> but give me thousands of scales to draw any day over clothes LMAO

ALRIGHT MORE LORE because I want to write things and expand on my notes!

Firstly, name; Among Virelai. Obvious play on Amon, while Virelai (or Virelay) is a specific type of lyrical verse used in poetics and music. I wanted something that sounds like Amon, a tie into music, but also wanted to invoke the feeling of masking, or hiding in plain sight.

Speaking of hiding, headcanon time; I fully headcanon that Amon's special talent would be in performance art. Allagan however was more science focused, and combining that with Crystal Ponies populance giving him grief for being a unicorn (not on purpose but you know how it is to be one man out)... which meant hiding the mark on flank more often than not, especially if he wanted to be seen as a scientist and not a performer.

Chose a Classic Unicorn for him due to him being from Allag - old times called for older races, though in his time they weren't called 'classic' unicorns. This means he got himself a long lion tail, long fur on fetlocks, a sharp horn, more deer-esque ears and a very lanky form. I actually pushed his height, making him on the upper end of the normal height-chart.

Classic Unicorns can grow a goat-beard, but quite a few trim it off.

Also, his tail-tip curves a bit. A natural trait, learned behavior to avoid dragging it on the floor, injury, who knows, I'll leave that up for the mun!

Final note; Magic. Once again it has to do with hiding traits of himself, normally unicorn magic shows some traits of ones talent. Among Virelai learned to control the output to a level where these traits don't show up nearly as much -- meaning he has absolutely terrifying levels of control of his magic. (To his eternal dismay however, being music-related talent, he cannot learn spells that aren't strictly about music. Not much help in science, aside from simple levitating of items and what not)

ANYWAYS, I think that is enough ramblings and headcanons, feel free to correct or toss in any of your own Amon-Mun! :3
