Thanks for the tag, @wolveria! I will offer a snippet as well!
This is from the Tech/Wrecker fic I will start posting during Clone Culture Week very soon! My beloved rarepair with so much angsty potential. Also Crosshair and Wrecker being close is so important to me.
Crosshair’s face creased in pity, a rare sight, and Wrecker hated seeing it directed at him. “Wrecker,” Crosshair said lowly, “Tech’s death may be hard to process, but—” With an irritated huff, Wrecker turned back to the console. “Forget it! I knew you wouldn’t believe me.” He expected Crosshair to leave, but he continued to linger, silently watching Wrecker input new search queries. “I was there,” he said eventually, and Wrecker stopped typing, tilting his head in Crosshair’s direction. His arms were folded tightly against his chest in an attempt to hide his trembling hand, but Wrecker didn’t miss it. Hoarsely, Crosshair continued, “They tried to make me into one of them, too. If Tech is part of the program…” He shook his head. “Let’s just say: It would be better if he were dead.” “Nothing could be worse than him being dead,” Wrecker snapped. He pressed his fingers to where the bonding tattoo sat beneath his armor and imagined he could feel it ache without its counterpart, the way his heart did. “Nothing.”
