#100.5 - Voltorb were first sighted at a company that manufactures Poké Balls; however the link between that sighting and the fact that this Pokémon looks very similar to a Poké Ball remains a mystery. Voltorb live off of electrical energy, which they store in their bodies under very high pressure, causing them to explode when jostled or shocked. As Voltorb age, they grow larger in order to contain more electricity; however, they are known to explode without provocation if they've absorbed too much. Their maturation can be tracked by how far their colors have rotated. [Old Version]
#100.5H - In ancient Sinnoh during the Hisui era, Voltorb were known to resemble ancient Poké Balls made from Apricons. Unlike Kantonian Voltorb, they have friendly and excitable temperaments, which leads them to cluster around people, causing them to be a nuisance when they discharge. Their hollow body is used to store both numerous seeds and electrical currents, though their interior is too pitch-black for further analysis. As they age, Hisuian Amphere develop the ability to absorb and store chlorophyll energy along with electricity. Like their modern counterparts, Amphere's maturation can be tracked by how far their colors have rotated.
Named: Voltorb - Amphere - Electrode
(Amphere [amp·feer] combines “ampere” and “sphere.”)
