“Women Are Perfect" by Jessica Sabogal
Jessica Sabogal
Recycling/reusing my Womxn’s March sign for March For Our Lives, still using Amplifier art.
This is the display standup I rigged as a transit-foldable protest sign. First picture is the sign in Womxn’s March mode, second picture, top right, the new face sheet for March For Our Lives.
I printed a fresh batch of nine posters from Amplifier and taped them together to form a sheet. The original layer is glued to the board and wrapped in plastic wrap. I took off the plastic wrap, blue taped the new face in place and re-wrapped with plastic wrap secured with clear packing tape. Think ‘rain fly’ for a sign.
AND I rigged a neck strap. I thought about that endlessly during the Womxn’s March as my fingertips froze. Marching should go better with my hands able to take breaks, stay warm and shoot photos. The third pic above shows travel mode, which is like 22x14 (tucks under an arm, goes on the bus, no problem), fourth picture shows “deployed” protest sign.
If I can just remember to bring a water bottle and a snack bar, that should resolve the most immediate endurance challenges I faced the last protest march. I had cold feet last march, but I have new boots to wear this time and they are way more waterproof than the old boots.
