#MugShotMonday Bob didn’t listen to the haters and neither do I! Doing lots of editing today and getting ready to submit! Fly, fly away words! #amsubmitting https://www.instagram.com/p/CLCfySmgMew/?igshid=6h4cl26p1ti9
Some mornings I have an affirmation, other mornings I grab my affirmation book off the shelf, put my hand on the cover and ask the universe to give me the affirmation I need. Today the universe answered with this. I wouldn’t ever have picked this for myself. When I read this out loud I realized that I don’t always expect the best. My expectations are constantly guarded! I really did need this today (and probably often...). Since today is a big submission day for me, it’s a great day to have high expectations. #morningpages #amwritibg #amsubmitting https://www.instagram.com/p/CLCe4rwgKUY/?igshid=1on8jtylstrvt
I did a thing this morning. It isn’t really special news considering many of us in the #writingcommunity are submitting often. Anyway, I submitted a short speculative fiction piece to a UK publication today. I’d be grateful if you’d send some luck my way! #womenwriters #specualtivefiction #amsubmitting #shortstory #writerslife https://www.instagram.com/p/CB3MsAzgQMD/?igshid=q42n7xakcmtf
Two rejection letters in two days both for short stories. The last rejection letter wasn’t a form letter though and said my writing was strong but not as strong as some others they were inundated with. I'm not sure whether to be discouraged or encouraged.
I’ll read through the stories one more time then find other magazines to send them to. Maybe the next time will be a yes.

A FEW DAYS AGO, I GOT ALL REVVED UP and tweeted what I had accomplished recently:
ExPLoDing! 10 stories 10 days, a poem(!), flashes, editing in my sleep, writing in my dreams…subbing like drunk typewriter monkey #amwriting #prose pic.twitter.com/E4UW8nCBto
I know a lot of writers have problems with inspiration and right now, that’s not my problem and so I gushed a little. Like…

Am I a Writer?
Am I a Writer?
FRIENDS, THAT IS NOT my butt in the image above. It is one more famous than mine will ever be. It belongs to a writer who, like me, prefers to write standing up.
He is a writer – no dispute there.
In my case – it is more fudgy. See…when people ask what I do, I SOMETIMES say *it*. That is, I reply, “I’m a writer.” But I tend to say it quietly. With dissonant caveats – “Not making a damn cent doin’…

Fivepoems submitted, to two different markets. (One to Quip, four to FIELD) Still looking for a place to submit the chapbook. Was going to go with Tupelo, despite the 25 dollar fee (but 1000 dollar prize sort of makes up for that), but I was short four pages and didn’t have a strong four to add before it closed. Ah well. There are other markets. Matter Press opens up to poetry submissions on the 15th, and I’ve got some things I think they’ll like.
