quick rant because i can't stop thinking about it
there was one (1) person who pointed out that reg and sirius are also at fault in how things went down. two other people pointed out sirius' part in it, overgoing reg. everyone else is only blaming james
and yes, i am the biggest defender of james potter doesn't have to be perfect, let james have flaws and fuck up, but maybe i'm just too good at that, because somehow i keep writing myself into these kinds of situations
like i let james do wrong things and i let all my other characters also do wrong things, but because i keep writing from james' pov, he takes on a lot of the blame, even when unjustified, whereas he keeps finding reasons and excuses for the people he loves. and again, maybe i'm just that great of a writer in this regard (toot toot) that i just manage to convince the reader of the same thing as james is convinced of, but i do have to admit that it does make me a little sad that this is the second long jegulus fic i'm writing, and the second jegulus fic wherein reg, sirius and james as a combined force lead to problems between regulus and james and everyone only blames james and a lot of people say regulus should never forgive him for his actions
why can regulus and sirius do things wrong and it is a given that james forgives them, but as soon as james does something wrong he becomes irredeemable?
is it because the black brothers tend to have more extreme reactions to being hurt, whereas james is more the person who smiles through the pain and tries to figure out what he did wrong that this happened to him? because i'm trying to imagine the situations reversed, if the exact same thing happened the other way round i feel like, just based on the way the characters would express their reaction to it, people would still think james is at fault
