The Civil Guard has arrested a person in Amurrio (Araba) as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of slander, after publishing "offensive" messages on a social network in which he "mocked" the death of two Civil Guard agents in a hit-and-run by a truck in March 2024 in Los Palacios (Seville). The investigation began last May 2024 after an anonymous call from a citizen to the Civil Guard in Castellón, in which they warned of the "derogatory" comment made by a user of a popular social network against the deceased Civil Guard agents. This post - which had a great impact as the user had four million followers - stated verbatim: "(It's) Better a dead cop, fertilizer for my garden". As soon as these facts were known, the necessary inquiries were made to determine the real identity of the person who owned the social network profile from which the comment had been made, and they managed to locate him in the town of Amurrio and arrest him.
