high-heel-mileage replied to your post: My dash dies on the weekend
Im headed to the gym now! (Begrudgingly, but Im going!)
Maybe I just need to work out on Fridays.
amyrunning replied to your post: My dash dies on the weekend
Or follow more Aussies. Its already Saturday for us!
I have a hard time keeping up with Aussies because of the time difference. You guys don't get active enough until I should be sleeping.
iwatchtheworldoutside replied to your post: My dash dies on the weekend
Oh my problem is not going out, its wondering if 9 is too early to go to bed.
Yes. Yes it is.
barbellbamf replied to your post: My dash dies on the weekend
Strengthblrs. The strengthblrs go off on a Friday evening. My dash is like pow, pow pow pow!
You guys are a weird bunch. I should expect as much :P
amyrunning replied to your post: I had a shitty birthday yesterday
Im so sorry you had a crappy day
Oh well... it wan't terrible. But thanks :D
unwinding-soul replied to your post: I had a shitty birthday yesterday
could you do a late birthday celebration when youre able to see your family? sorry it was so sucky :/
I'll see them, which is really all I care about. No need for cake. Actually, yeah -- I'm gonna need some cake.
seestephyrun replied to your post: I had a shitty birthday yesterday
wishing you a happy birthday. but damn that sucks.
Thanks :D
iwatchtheworldoutside replied to your post: I had a shitty birthday yesterday
I understand. My last birthday my fianc forgot. He promised to take me out to dinner the next weekend and he never did. I will say to his credit, we had a 9 day old baby, so things were a little crazy but I felt so forgotten. Happy belated birthday!
Ouch -- that sucks. At least my wife always remembers. Of course we have no kids to distract us.
4 years is a long time
Today is exactly 4 years since I moved to Melbourne and I wrote about this on facebook, but I wanted to touch on it here, because
1. I like my blog better than Facebook.
2. I like the people on Tumblr better than the people on Facebook.
3. I wanted to elaborate a bit more and get kinda mushy and people on facebook don't appreciate that.
4. My mum doesn't have facebook.
I was a tiny 18 year old when I moved out of home, to a completely different state away from any friends or family I had. I thought I knew shit about life, turns out I didn't!
I have had many many days where I just think to myself What the hell am I doing here?? and days when I miss my friends and family back at home, BUT then I have days like yesterday where Amy told me she feels like my unofficial big sister and today where Sandy told me that I helped her find herself and all the other friends I've made either from tumblr or from "real life" (which sounds so stupid now because my tumblr friends are my real life friends) it makes me realise that I have my own family here and I wouldn't swap them for the world.
amyrunning replied to your post: Things that need to be said...
If you feel like intuitive eating is right for you, stick with it. Practice makes perfect!
I really do think it will help with all of my food and body image issues.
Reading the anecdotes in the book about those who had various struggles- from years of yo-yo dieting to anorexia or binging- that were able to overcome and begin to lead normal lives without the guilt really gives me hope that eventually I'll no longer judge a day as good or bad based on my intake or look in the mirror for any reason other than to make sure my clothes match or fix my hair or makeup.
I do think I may have to cut more people I'm following, sadly. There's just too many people that talk about "bad" food and I need to challenge that food police voice in my head.
Thank you tumblr for your assistance tonight
I had today off work. I only had 2 things to do. Gym/exercise and a manicure. I woke up, felt crap. Went to my chiro, got fixed up, then headed to my manicure. I showed everyone on here my beautiful manicure, what you didn’t see was that I had already destroyed the polish on my other hand. It made me really sad. So I took it all off. Then I spent the day basically sitting on my ass feeling like shit. I have had this feeling for Weeks and it won’t budge. I managed the gym yesterday and felt good. Today just wasn’t working for me. So I was sitting watching TV and reading about other people exercising, but that didn’t give me the total motivation, but it made me feel like crap that I was giving up. It was something Amy wrote that got me thinking. I know I want to do this, get healthy, lose weight, but then the fear of failure kicks in. I live in this fear, I let it dominate me. I give in to it, because it’s easy. I then saw Rikki heading to the gym, and I thought, fuck it, I’m going got a walk. I don’t care how long or slow, I’m doing it. And I did. Not sute how long I was out for, but I worked up a sweat. I got puffed, I took my time. And I feel better for it. I need to stop using the easy way out, I need to look after myself and be the best me I can be. So thank you tumblr for kicking me in the ass and making me move it!
Amy's Questions:
What is your favourite childhood memory? When I was a kid my extended family on my mom's side would spend Mother's Day weekend/week at my grandparents timeshare in Lake Tahoe. But really all the vacations with cousins and everyone - trips to Disneyland, Hawaii, etc are some of my best childhood memories.
What is your biggest fear? A combination of dying alone slash being abandoned by the people I love.
If you had to survive on one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? The correct answer is potato. Roasted. Mashed. In a salad. Baked. French fries. Chips. Crisps. Tatar tots. The list is endless. Potatoes taste amazing whichever way you prepare them.
What is your 'deal breaker' when it comes to friendships? I have no patience for people who belittle others in order to make themselves feel better.
Describe your perfect day, the day you would have if you knew the world was going to end? It would be spent in Paris, on a gorgeous autumn day, with all of my loves, enjoying the city, eating amazing food, listening to beautiful music, and just generally having a good time. (PG version cause my parents read this blog)
Name one habit you wish you could break. I wish I wasn't such a procrastinator. To be honest I started this Monday. And just... well procrastinated.
What are you most proud of? This. I mean not just that but it pretty much sums up some of the more meaningful work I've done.
Dogs or cats? Dogs for the win.
Horror movies: not so much.
If you could do any job, what would it be? My ultimate dream job is Creative Director of American Vogue. Mostly because Grace Coddington is my spirit animal and I love her and her work is perfection.
Tell us something you haven't written on your blog before. I booked my plane ticket back to America town! February 5th. American peeps get stoked. Australian folks cue the tears. It's the final countdown.
Sam's questions:
What makes your stomach turn? Australian spiders make me ill.
Do you want children? if so how many? When I was younger I wanted heaps of kids like 3 - 6. Now not so much. At least one would be cool.
What do you look for in a potential partner? Shallow answer is a guy who's taller than me (although at 5'3 that's like everyone). Sincere answer - honest, fun, can I be myself around him, and will he build me a tree house one day. Yes, the tree house bit is 100% serious.
What are 3 pet peeves? passive aggressiveness; people who are slow to respond to texts/emails/skype messages when they clearly have their iphone attached at the wrist; when one of my co-workers tries to read my computer screen.
Tea or Coffee? tea made by me. Coffee from cafes.
Does your body do any weird things? Not that I can think of.
Who are your 5 favourite tumblrs? I love you all equally so there.
If you could make one change to the world, what would it be? There would be less barriers (financial, legal, etc) for people to travel freely within the world. I'm so lucky I've had the opportunity to live, study, and work in so many countries. Everyone should have that chance.
What's one skill you wish you had? I wish I could play slash write music.
What's one food you can't live without? oatmeal.
In a movie about your life, who would you cast as the lead? Myself so I can one day use the Oscar acceptance speech I've been practicing since I was 12.
My (Proust) Questions:
What is your current state of mind?
What is your idea of perfect happiness?
Which historical figure do you most identify with?
Which living person do you most admire?
What is your greatest extravagance?
What do you most value in your friends?
What is your favourite journey?
What is your most treasured possession?
What do you consider the most overrated virtue?
On what occasion do you lie?
If you died and came back as a person or thing what do you think it would be?
I know these questions have been going around plus I'm at work so it's hard to tag people. If you're reading this and bored consider yourself tagged.
I have a couple of these, so I'll start with this one :)
Rule 1: always post the rules.
Rule 2: answer the questions the person who tagged you has written and write 11 new ones.
Rule 3: tag 11 new people and link them to your post.
Rule 4: let them know you’ve tagged them.
From diaryofthelegallybrunette
My questions for the tagged folks:
If you had to choose between going blind or deaf, which sense would you forgo?
I think I'd rather be deaf, I love to see things/look at them. I don't know if I could go without seeing.
What room do you spend the most time in at your house?
The loungeroom and bedroom.
What is your most used electrical appliance?
I thought of a rude response to this, but I'll keep it clean, it would have to be my laptop :)
Rollerblades or rollerskates?
Neither, I am not the most coordinated girl, and I can see disaster written all over these things.
If you had the choice of being male or female, which gender would you choose?
I love being female, but when there is a huge line to the girls toilets.... MAKE ME A BOY
What is the one movie you insist everyone must see?
Shawshank Redemption is one that comes to mind.
Who were you in high school (or who are you) the athlete, basket-case, princess, brain, or criminal?
None of the above??? Closest would be brain, but I'd say more goody twoshoes :)
If you could change the dynamics of one relationship/friendship in your life what would you change?
I'd like the relationship with my parents to be easier at times. I love them dearly, but only in small doses.... I spent many years as mediator/counsellor to them both.
Can men and women really be just ‘friends’?
Yes, you can like someone, even love them, but not want to get in their pants.
If you were to live one day for the rest of your life (a la Groundhog Day) what would you choose to do?
Hmmmm well I would have started my day off by waking up after having won the MEGA lottery in my brand new mansion :) I think I'd get up for a gym session with my ultra sexy trainer, then have a lovely breakfast in bed cooked by my personal chef. Probably after a shower to get rid of the stinky sweaty.
Maybe some lunch with my favourite people, lots of laughter, good food and wine. An afternoon strolling down by the beach, you know not too hot, not too cold, bit of a cool breeze, blue sky... you get the picture. Then dinner with more people I love. Maybe a movie night. Bed next to sexy man........ Probably lots more but hey that's a start isn't it
Is there really a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow?
I'd like to hope so. Maybe this is how I get rich for ground hog day?
