There I was again tonight forcing laughter faking smiles same old tired lonely place
walls of insincerity shifting eyes and vacancy vanished when I saw your face
#still remember hearing this for the first time so vividly#at 15#like something I knew I had always felt even by that time#about life in general#and love in so far as I understood it#just that intense desire for the fakery and insincerity to be removed#for a moment of real personal connection and warmth with the people around me#like she just gave me the words so directly and so accurately at such a pivotal point#and I still feel this way!!!#though I’ve gotten better at recognizing other people’s loneliness through the walls of insincerity#and doing something about it#as opposed to waiting for other people to act first like I used to#but yeah these lines are still everything to me#an ethos DEFINED
