Anarchy Evolution: Faith, Science, and Bad Religion in a World without God (2011) by Greg Graffin & Steve Olson
Bad Religion vocalist Graffin, who holds a PhD in evolutionary biology, writes about his two big pillars in life: Bad Religion & evolution. He tries to describe both his career as frontman of a well known punk act on one hand and as a scientist on the other hand. But where some people might think, that these two life stories might be incompatible, Greffin shows their common root.
During this book, which contains as much a history of Bad Religion as it deals with scientific subjects, Greffin tries to explain his fundamental believes about religion, humanity and of course evolution. Most of the time he manages to describe the scientific content in an understandable way. But I felt that at times he lost his way and did not get to the point. To me this book seemed very tiring during those passages. But I still think, that he describes a difficult topic interesting most of the time.
The parts I enjoyed most where those about Bad Religion. He describes their roots as much as their development and even tries to draw a comparison between the development of his band and the evolution.
Everyone who is interested in biology and/or punk music should read this book, as it contains a lot of information about both topics and makes you think about some very important and interesting things.
