sage let out a quiet huff, sitting inside some old, dusty autoshop while her car was being fixed...or at least, supposed to be. she’d been trying to get ahold of her boyfriend for nearly two hours now. calls, texts, dm’s -- nothing. she’d even ridden back in the tow truck once it became clear no one was coming to pick her up. what the hell, luca? she thought, ringing him again with no answer. there was still no sign her car would be ready anytime soon, the mechanics hovering like they were guessing more than fixing, and it was freezing inside, goosebumps crawling up her skin as she sat in that small, creaky chair. she was starving too, hadn’t eaten in hours, and between the cold, the hunger, and the frustration building in her chest, sage was right at her limit, not sure what else to do anymore. at some point, she gave up pretending she had a better option. it was a shot in the dark, but she pulled up his contact anyway. tony. “hi, um --” her voice trailed off the second he picked up, suddenly nervous, a little embarrassed creeping in like she might actually regret this. “i’m so sorry, i know i probably seem crazy calling you like this, it’s just…” she hesitated, wondering if she should hang up before she made it worse, but she pushed through it anyway. “have you heard from luca?” she asked, softer now, almost careful. “my car broke down on the highway and i’ve just been stuck at this creepy auto shop for hours. i know you probably have a million better things to do, but… any chance i can convince you for a ride home?” she was already expecting a no, something polite and dismissive, something that would leave her right back where she started but he agreed, easily, and somehow sounded more present than her own boyfriend had all day. damn… since when did tony sound so hot over the phone? never mind. she couldn't think about that right now. or at all. when she saw him pull in, she let out a loud sigh of relief she didn’t even bother hiding, slipping out of the shop and into his car like she’d been waiting on that moment for hours. “thank you for rescuing me,” she said, trying to keep it playful, even if there was still a little exhaustion clinging to her voice. “sorry i threw you into the middle of my chaotic day.” she leaned back into the seat, finally letting herself relax for a second before the frustration crept back in, her brows furrowing together without much effort. “your brother has seriously been pissing me off all day,” she admitted, shaking her head lightly. “still hasn’t even gotten back to me.”
