❛ You made a mistake. Everybody makes them. Even me. I’ve made many. It’s only fair that you made one. ❜ for gale!
@ancnomes
that’s the question though, isn’t it? was it a mistake? does he see it as one? he feels like he’s been asked that a thousand times over in his life despite his young age. “i didn’t.” and his answer never seems to bring people peace. they turn to him like he’s more than nineteen years old. like he’s more than the sum of his trauma and his war and the sound of bombs dropping. “i’d do it again.” fight a war, make a bomb, not know how it was going to be used? all of it.
“it’s what we needed.” he doesn’t know, at all, if it was his bomb. and he hates the idea that it was. but he didn’t drop it. he didn’t decide how it was used. and he’d make the same one again.

can i just say that your faceclaims for johanna are always going to be A+ because you always find faceclaims that display her emotions (or the lack thereof) so well. they fit her, and the world you build up around her. she's wonderful, and so are you!
that is a big reason and part of why i end up with my faceclaims THANKS DEAR because there are REALLY GREAT faces but sometimes they just don’t give me a #jo vibe and i SUFFER
now that it's the 25th, i'm here to say that i'm your secret santa! sorry i wasn't around too much, but i will have gifts for you within the next couple days!

often , they spoke of the wanderings of the wolf --- the path traveled up past the forest and to the mountains. often , they spoke of it’s benevolence : the grace of the guardian that spoke for what surrounds them .
but now ? where greed spreads much like the fires years ago in a place called home , there’s silence. no forest to speak of , and a mountain lonely save for the presence of wisps and the whispers of witches who try to tempt , and try to taint. and the sending wolf ? tired , glory gone with the past , and a present that steps beyond belief.
which is what makes it strange , when hikaru sulu wanders and he spots a girl ( catches scent first ) --- not quite lost , yet still ... somewhat, out of place here. silent , his eyes keep on her form , on what she carries with her. caution , and suspicion with those that step into the unknown greens that don’t seem like home.
he won’t know , unless he asks.
a foot forward , he makes his presence known. cautious still, wariness where body remains half hidden by the twist and stretch of trees around them.
“ --- are you lost? ”

Katniss was the girl on fire, but it was Madge who had almost burned, who had watched wide-eyed as beams cracked and smoke poured through once-immaculate rooms. Madge was the girl who almost burned, but it was Annie Cresta who had almost drowned, and it would almost be funny if it didn’t hurt so badly. There were two sorts of people in this world, it seemed - the ones who burned and the ones who drowned. Even Mayors’ daughters weren’t safe from it. Once-smooth skin is now riddled with scars on arms and shoulders, across her stomach and her hip.
In the end, they were both prisoners - both held by the Capitol, both rescued, both now in District 13, where everything is grey and Madge feels like she might suffocate all over again, this time on smoke she can’t see. (She’s not stupid - she knows that Annie and Peeta are the only reasons she’s alive at all, and Peeta most of all. No one would have come for her. No one would have even known she had survived.)
“I don’t think I like it here.” It’s empty and she knows it - this is better than burning, better than the Capitol. “It feels like home when there was a storm coming in.”
