Bad Ending Drabble #1:
"Your identity is your most important asset as a superhero. So, what should I call you, little bug?" Chat asked, clasping his hands behind his back with a smirk, and she tapped her chin in thought.
"How about Ladybug?" She said, and his smirk evaporated, replaced by a steely frown.
"No." He shook his head, biting his lip to hide how it quivered, and when she seemed confused he added, "Sorry, but that name is taken."
"Oh. Then maybe Miss Bug?" She tilted her head to one side, and he choked back a laugh.
He looked her up and down, pursing his lips. Her new suit was so much different from her old one, black boots and gloves decorating her limbs, hair pulled back into a single ponytail with a red ribbon, and although he liked the improvements, he couldn't help longing for her old look. For the old her.
After a moment, he flashed her another strained smile and said, "How about Lady Rouge?"
"Wow, you're really good at this," she said, placing her hands on her hips. "Okay, then it's settled. From now on I'm Lady Rouge. I can't wait to work with you, Chat Noir!"
"Yeah, you're gonna be great," he said, flicking his gaze down to his boots, and she deflated too at his lack of enthusiasm.
"Can I ask you something?" She said, clasping her hands together.
"Sure, anything." He shrugged.
"What happened to the old Ladybug?" She asked, turning to face the bronze statue, and Chat Noir's blood ran cold.
It was bound to come up sooner or later. He knew as much, but it didn't stop the ache in his chest. It didn't give Ladybug her memories back.
"She...had to go away. It wasn't safe for her to be Ladybug anymore," he said, averting his gaze. "She'd give everything for this city if it kept it safe."
"Sounds like I have some big shoes to fill," Lady Rouge said, tilting her head back to stare into the face smiling above them. Her face.
"You have no idea, little bug."
