random mowalsh headcanons (cos it’s crazy hours and nothing good happens after 1am)
• emery is a huge softie for samira but she’s not afraid to hold her accountable or tell her she’s wrong (be it in their personal lives or their work). samira loves her for it and it brings a lot of respect between them regarding their jobs.
• samira loves emery but does think she can be snobbish on occasion. she doesn’t resent her for it, nobody’s perfect. she can be anti-social herself.
• they’ve been in each other’s orbit for years, but it’s pittfest that properly introduces them as colleagues and something more.
• they date for 3-4 years before emery proposes. it’s a quiet affair that both proudly keep to themselves and wait for people to notice.
• emery is actually quite social outside of work. she has a lot of old vet friends and friends from med school that she doesn’t always see but keeps in good touch with. samira loves seeing the social side of her and emery’s friends become her friends too.
• sometimes, for samira, loving emery is not them looking at each other but looking in the same direction as her. it’s the same for emery. they’re partners and they don’t go forward without the other.
• emery was a sports kid. samira was a ballet kid. ice skating is pretty much the only thing they can both do somewhat gracefully together.
• they’re good at being apart, though they miss each other, neither is the needy type.
• emery doesn’t talk with her family. she’s got one brother she texts on holidays and birthdays.
• emery goes to a vet support group every week with jack. she doesn’t suffer from her PTSD often these days but she believes showing up for others is just as good as showing up for herself. samira picks her up after.
• samira is the one who wants a baby. emery is never one to let down her wife (but they’re so stopping at two)
• emery is insanely protective of her wife. nobody goes near samira when she’s pregnant (it’s sweet, but so fucking annoying sometimes)
• jack gets godfather. al-hashimi gets godmother. trinity doesn’t speak to them for a week.
• samira’s mother loves emery. to the point where samira’s sure she loves emery more than her own daughter. she’s not against it.
• emery is a great cook and learns all of samira’s favourite dishes. she also manages her insane cravings.
• emery handles the finances but always gets samira’s opinion and approval.
• both agree that they don’t bring their relationship to work. in the pitt, they’re walsh and mohan. at home, they’re emery and samira.
• when samira’s pregnant the first time, emery has everything planned. they have an inducement date for thursday. she’s not happy when samira goes into labour on a tuesday.
• their first baby is a girl, norah mohan-walsh. she is their absolute world and the spit image of samira. her scowl however is all emery.
• samira loves seeing the version of emery that comes home from being a super scary boss lady to a pile of mush that’s subservient to an infant who can’t even talk yet.
• samira is amma. emery is mom.
• their second baby is a boy that samira carries from emery’s egg. subsequently, he looks just like emery with dark hair and dark eyes, but he’s a little quiet, a lot like samira.
• samira was an anxious first-time mom, always worried something was medically wrong with norah and constantly bringing her into work. nothing ever was, but emery has her checked every time.
• their arguments consist mostly of work-related disagreements, being tired, and parenting differences. samira can be over-bearing and emery can be too distant.
• both children tend to flock to samira first, but emery’s definitely the cool mom (and the scarily protective one)
• neither are very good at apologising to each other, but they get better at it as they go along.
• emery is totally and utterly devoted to samira. that girl is chivalry 101.
• after their children are born, emery stops going to her support group to spend more time with them. when one of norah’s toys is too loud and makes her freeze, she immediately starts going again.
• the two take it in turns when it comes to the shifts they work, usually on monthly or biweekly intervals. their children deserve to spend time with them, after all.
• emery still makes time for date nights, something samira often struggles to do, but she doesn’t mind. she just wants to spend time with her girl.
