sometimes people will talk about Occtis and Wick as if they receive equivalent treatment in fandom, and it's just
#critical role#wicander halovar#occtis tachonis#obviously AO3 is not the be all end all of fandom#and it's not always super indicative of actual popularity#lots of characters/pairings have inflated numbers because they're used as side characters with very little focus on their own shit#especially female characters and f/f ships#but it's pretty good for comparing how fandoms feel about male characters#specifically their shipability#fuckability#and blorbibility#and guys#fellas#Wick is middlingly popular#he's not considered especially shippable#he has comparatively little smut written about him#the fandom at large doesn't devote that kind of saccharine sentimentality to his mindset and traumas#the only male main character tagged in fewer fics is Teor!!!#he's not unpopular by any means#he's just. firmly middle of the pack.#people saw his design and decided sight unseen that he'd have a vast obnoxious fanbase that ships him with every available dude#and it's never been true#(except for the 'obnoxious' part but that's true of literally every fanbase)#i WISH it were!! I want the kind of smut and whump people think he has!! It's just not there!!
