So this is it. 

You don't know what you expected. In terms of how it would happen, or what it would feel like. You know what it looks like visually, you've seen it before, seen it happen to a few monsters. Unintentionally of course, but it happens all the same. Your grandfather would be a good example. Slowly melting away, and then just gone. You didn't see that part, ushered out of the room by concerned adults, but you knew that's how it went. Everyone knew that's how it went, and now it was actually happening to you. 

You've fallen down. 

Or you're in the process of it, at least. 

You don't know why you're holding on, why you're bothering. There's no point to it really. You had nothing to stick around for. 

All your family is gone or you no longer talk to them. Friends? You haven't had those in a long time, truthfully. None that would be moved enough by you dying to care, anyway. Maybe that should hurt you more than it does, but you can't find the strength. 

You didn't do much in your short life. You were a librarian who told stories to kids on Thursdays. You went home, read some more, and then went to bed. That was your routine, that had been your routine since you graduated college with a degree you've never—and will never—use. 

There'd been a change to your monotony, for a brief, passing moment. Only recently. You'd acquired a CRT from the junk shop, having seen it in the window on your way home one day. 

Watching TV was a bit of excitement in your life, it was something new, anyway. And admittedly, when things started going wrong, warning signs flashing at you all around, everything screaming at you to save yourself and get rid of the thing—

You didn't. 

Because at the very least, it was something. It was something new, something different. 

Someone finally giving you a bit of attention. 

So you took it. Even though it doomed you, even though it sealed your fate, even though it was undoubtedly what got you killed, soul ripped from your body without a moment's hesitation and devoured instantly by something you could no longer call your TV—you didn't regret it. 

You didn't regret it at all. 

And honestly, if you were a bit more delusional, a bit more unstable and lonely than you were... 

You'd almost be thankful. 

Because at least you mattered, for the briefest of moments, to someone. 

That's something you can take with you.

Just watched Alien (1979) for the first time. I hated and enjoyed it at the same time. It was well directed. It made me stressed and claustrophobic. I realized, that I hate when things take place in spaceships. It was too intense. It was too slow. It was ahead of it's time. The suspense made me wanna puke, even though it's an old movie and I knew what was going to happen. I want to take Ripley to therapy, wrap her safely in blankets and give her unlimited time of peace. Poor, poor woman. The most badass female character even written.
