Everything about the conclusion of O'Brien's story is wild. She first goes on an absolutely unhinged campaign to ruin her former friend's life by outing him to his boss and getting him fired without a reference for refusing to help and mildly sabotaging her nephew (who doesn't even want the job!). She only backs off when he blackmails her with her biggest secret which could ruin her life and her response to this is to give up and chill for an entire year! Then she meets a woman who is kind of terrible and decides to leave in the middle of the night to go work for her in India because she wants to travel. It's incredible. I'm weirdly pleased by her ending. It's wild and comes out of nowhere but I like that she got out.
