I MET SINGTO AND DID NOT SURVIVE IT
So there I was—
[Look, look! I have a watermarked photo!]
I've just watched the final episode of "The Ex-Morning" in Siam Paragon, my heart is in ruins from unparalleled joy, and I can't even reflect on it yet because I'm in the audience watching the fan benefit taking place onstage, quietly freaking the entire fuck out.
I have the 2:2 (two actors, two fans) photo benefit, so I know I'll be next to one of them, but the staff normally choose for you while you're in line, so it's not like I'll get a choice, riiiight?
I stand up and join the queue, and a staff member materializes from the ether and asks me, "Are you alone?"
I say yes, since my friends are already done and outside, and then she asks, "Who do you like?"
Naturally: "Both!"
But I know what she means, so I have to really think about it, because l'm seeing both of them in Germany in a few months (!!!), but I'm seeing Kit at MUSICON in Tokyo tomorrow and I've never met Singto, so I choose the lion.
She grins, takes me by the wrist, and leads me up the steps, calling for any singles there for Kit so she can put me with them. Most people in the queue are friends in pairs or groups, so I wind up jumping the queue by about fifty people, getting to choose who to sit next to, and because I picked Singto, I end up standing with a group of lovely Thai Yuyus who've been fans since "SOTUS"/"SOTUS S" in 2016/2017. :')
Now l'm getting closer and closer to the stage (and death) and I'm just in my head like, "It should help that I know which one l'm going to talk to, but it really doesn't, actually." Because it's Singto and I've never talked to him before, so this is my first interaction with him after following him for five years. I have one chance to make the most of it.
And just like when I met Kit at his solo concert in 2023, I have all these thoughtful ideas of what to say to Singto in my ten allotted seconds, but in the end, I decide on something while waiting in line only moments from actually talking to him.
The thing is: I'd noticed that many fans were asking Kit and Singto for specific poses. Arm over shoulder, hand on head, etc. And Kit's been doing it, but when Singto does it, he keeps a bit of distance from the fans' actual bodies. Hover-handing it, you know.
So I'm like, "Okay, that's probably one of two things: 1) extra courteousness even though they're requesting the contact, or 2) he just prefers not to touch people he doesn't know well. Or both." Either one or a combination of them would be understandable.
So l decide, "Okay then, I'll let him decide what he wants."
When I walk onstage for my turn, as soon as Singto looks at me, the world explodes and remakes itself.
As expected, Singto Prachaya is the single most beautiful person on the planet, but whatever, y'know. I can talk to gods.
Above all else, the one thing I really wanted to say to him was, "Hi, Singto," because how often do you get to greet them normally, right? How often do you get to treat them as the normal people they are? To acknowledge their humanity, in a sense, by saying something common.
And not fainting.
So I sit down and say, "Hi, Singto," and he says, "Hi! Thank you for coming," in English. Just like a god would.
Then he kind of gestures with his hands in a, like, "What do you wanna do for the pose?" kind of way, and I say, "Your choice!"
He didn't hear over the ambient noise, so he says, "Pardon?"
I rephrase, "Your favorite pose?" a little louder.
He smiles and looks up while he thinks about it, and I'm quietly celebrating that he's humoring me. Then he opens his hands like a clam shell on his leg and I have half a second of "wait, for real?"
Half-convinced I'm already dead or at least happily trapped in a simulation, I put my hand on Singto Prachaya's divine hand, and he puts his other hand on top, and my entire brain becomes a bucket of paint chips on fire.
Singto's hands, since I know you're wondering, are like two warm pillows sewn by angels from cloth made from the dreams of baby capybaras.
Singto's hands are soft soft. Of course. God.
Then, as I'm standing up to go, I tell him, "The last episode was perfect," because he and Kit said on a podcast recently that they really want to hear what fans think of the finale.
And hearing that, Singto's whole face lights up with an even brighter smile. He wai's and says, "Thank you so much!" and I think, I made Singto happy. :')
Then I leave the stage, waving goodbye to Kit, and the Yuyus scream with me to celebrate my total and complete death by lion.
