how do i explain this. how do i even explain this fic. it diverges from sins and it is like. an undisclosed # of years (more than 5, less than 20) after sins of omission and the skrulls Won won. it is an occupation story. okay. the last scene i wrote is a tony/k'arr'n noncon where k'arr'n is now god-emperor of earth and he comes back from a very important dastardly deed, and tony is fresh from a surgical suite because he is back from his own dastardly deed, and k'arr'n is like. let's have a bath. so it's sexysadnoncon in a big bathtub, and tony has all these non-consensual body mods including a brainstem extremis implant situation so they are sort of in this position where everything is terrible but k'arr'n has some terrible leverage over tony and tony is feigning compliance while he is 24/7 drugged and trying to remember who he is and also trying to foment a coup on the side between getting fucked by everyone, it's pretty dismal

"Every stand you make," Tony tells him. "Every shitty, selfish decision you make? It all runs downhill to me. I know it’s a big ask," he says, furious, hushed, "but maybe you could try to care about me."
It is a cruelty that feels so inconsequential in the face of the mountain of shit Tony has put them atop, in the face of the cruelties Tony survives every day.
And he knows he is better.
And he knows it before it leaves his mouth, but he says it, steady. "Who are you supposed to be, to me, Tony?"
"No one," Tony breathes. "I guess I’m no one."
11: What scene are you most hyped for this chapter/fic?
there is a scene where. steve is doing this big fight in an arena because he also has a mind control implant and it is a really miserable fight, he is like. reenacting a past trauma of his that is now like a big memorialized battle in skrull history and the avengers crash the arena and they land a quinjet and everyone in the stands is screaming and they're like okay, steve, fucking. get on the jet! chop chop! this is a rescue! and steve [redacted]
