Imagine this, one night the rain is falling heavily outside. Everyone has tucked in for the night as the clock strikes midnight, though a certain skeleton and his s/o have yet to fall asleep. Dusty has come to visit his lover's au again due to repeating nightmares of them either dying or suddenly disappearing, and once he revealed this to them they promptly took him into his arms and tucked them both to bed.

Dusty is resting against their chest as he's being held within their embrace, though he will feel their arm move as their fingers suddenly come to stroke along his cheek. They start to hum a little as they trail their thumb over his cheekbone, and then they say: "I promise I won't ever leave you, Dusty. You have to believe me on that." A gentle kiss is placed on top of his skull, and they move again to tighten their embrace around him. They want him to feel secure and protected from anything or anyone out there who wishes to do him any harm. They cannot do much compared to him when sheer power is involved, but they can give him emotional support. They can hold him and reassure him that he is cherished, and that is exactly what they will do now. "I love you, Dusty. I always will." They'll say. "I know you don't think you deserve any of this, you've said so sometimes in your sleep… but I think you do." They lean in to nuzzle against his skull. "I think you deserve every ounce of love that I can give you."

His reaction to this, pretty please?

Dusty hated the fact that he had to do this.

Why the hell was his mind being so mean to him? Why did it like to make him see things that didn't happen? Or maybe it did! Maybe he killed his datemate in another timeline, and that means that he could do it in this AU too.

Pappy told him to do it a lot.

"You'll get more LV! That's what you want, isn't it? That's why you killed me. Isn't it? Isn't it?!" and no matter how much he tried, he could never get Pappy to shut up. He yelled, he shouted, he cried… nothing worked.

The only time Pappy would really shut up and go away, is when Dusty was killing, unless he was in danger then Pappy would show up and help him. It was… strange.

He was laid in their bed with them, his arms wrapped around them tightly, his head rested against their chest his chest rising and falling with soft breaths, trying his best to stay calm.

He didn't need this. He didn't need this much panic. He told them about his dreams, and they had been laying together in silence for a little.

When he felt the first touch, he almost flinched away, his breath hitching the smallest amount and his eyes shoot up to see their face.

They were looking at him, and they start to talk, "I promise I won't ever leave you, Dusty. You have to believe me on that." they say, while tracing their fingers against his cheek bones. They kissed his skull, and say to him, "I love you, Dusty. I always will." They said. "I know you don't think you deserve any of this, you've said so sometimes in your sleep… but I think you do." They nuzzle his skull, and mumble, "I think you deserve every ounce of love that I can give you."

He spoke in his sleep? They… he lets out the weakest and most broken whimper that he had ever heard from himself, and his soul hurt. A monster with this much LV, anyone with this much, shouldn't be able to feel this.

He shouldn't have to deal with this but… he was.

Letting out a shaky breath, he leans forward, nuzzling his skull against their cheek, then into their neck, mostly to hide letting out a shaky breath "T…Thank you Y/n," he mumbles, and clenches onto the back of their shirt, "I'm sorry… I'm so sorry" he didn't know if he was saying sorry to them, his brother, or… just anyone else.

He just felt like he should say that he was sorry.
