See, I don't know if I'd call Dreamstat a hallucination. I feel like it's just a coping mechanism for Louis. Like how someone might talk to themselves. He sees Lestat because he wants to see him, he feels him because he wants to. Louis knows he isn't really there. He wants him to be there, but there's so much between them that Louis won't allow himself to give in and find Lestat and have the conversations they need to have. He's fighting against his own desire to be with Lestat, by conjuring up this image of him to make being without him hurt less.
