Maybe, post-canon, Nie Huaisang gets more and more serious and less airheaded as time goes on. People may think it’s because he finally grew up, finally realised what his duty is, or because he put his headshaker act aside; revenge served, back to bussiness.

Probably, the disciples and people who live under Nie protection are happy with this development. It was a nasty grieving period their leader had, but he’s no longer the headshaker. He’s rebuilding the Qinghe Nie sect. Things start to look better for everyone.

Nie Huaisang himself may not really understand why he has so many fans and jewelry and birds and painting materials. They used to make him happy, he guesses. He keeps a fan and a paintbrush on his belt out of habit. Did he get those from Jin Guangyao? He doesn’t remember. He doesn’t care. He rarely ever uses them anymore. Maybe he should burn them all.

After a decade or so, the Qinghe Nie is almost back to what it was before Nie Mingjue died. They’ve got an heir, even though Nie Huaisang mostly neglects his wife; he remembers he had rows of spring books back when. He can’t see the appeal of sex at all now. It lost it’s shine along with most other things that once seemed to matter so much.

The Qinghe Nie sect leader has turned from a perpetual child to a stoic leader who rules well. Qinghe is happy. The Jianghu is happy. Simply said: Nie Huaisang is doing a good job!

Yet, it may be no wonder, one should think, that he’s found in his study one day, blood sticking around his lips and chin. The method of Qinghe Nie is their sabers. Revenge and anger don’t come for free to the leaders of Qinghe Nie; it will grow and flare indefinitely until it leads to Qi deviation. Everyone in Qinghe knows this. It’s simply the fate of their sect leaders. And, turns out, it doesn’t matter if that rage is loud and boisterous, or quiet and slow.
