I’ve finished reading Homestuck.
It was truly a journey from start to finish. I didn’t think much of it when I started to read, mostly on a whim after seeing the animated pilot announced. I liked the character designs and I knew Toby “Radiation” Fox made music for it, and that’s all I knew.
At first, I was pretty confused.
And I thought the modus were really cool, since they referenced data structures. I liked John, and then I liked Rose, then Dave, then Jade as they appeared and their stories evolved.
Then I kept reading, and reading. The story from Act 4 onwards became absolutely peak in my humble opinion, as soon as the trolls came into play. My favourite was and still is Terezi, she’s so badass and I love her shades.
I also became a fan of Karkat, because he’s funny as hell with all his yelling. I became a fan of all the trolls honestly, since they all have strong stories. I thought it couldn’t get any more peak.
I remember being so shocked when Gamzee started killing everyone out of nowhere, that shit was crazy as hell. I also was when we learnt that it was all Karkat’s fault the session the Beta kids were in was doomed because he fucked up making the frog and caused it to get cancer.
The one that crashed Newgrounds apparently back in the day. Peak. I wish I could have been there to see it, but I was probably too young to be reading the comic and I’m glad I’m reading it now as an adult. I think I can appreciate it more.
Then we reach the new kids in the new universe. I already was a fan of them since I saw a bunch of artwork and cosplays, and I grew to like Jane, Roxy, Dirk and Jake more as we met them. The Alpha kids as they call them.
The ancestor Trolls, Calliope and Caliborn…the story kept getting so much cooler. I was so shocked to see that the creepy Cal puppet actually was relevant this whole time and not just there because Bro Strider liked them for some reason.
TEREZI AND HER PASSWORDS WERE SO COOL. I LOVE HER.
I didn’t think I would ever reach the end since there’s like 8000 pages, but here I am. I’m little sad it’s all over and I can’t spend my nights reading through it all again after I do all my uni work.
Thank you Homestuck! You’re actually pretty cool and I’m glad I read you!
