hi anon 👋 that’s a really good question, and i’m not trying to actively bash anyone who likes sterek—just sharing why it’s not my thing :)
Honestly, for me it’s less about hating and more about why it doesn’t click with me. A lot of the Sterek fandom leaned into dynamics that felt OOC to me—like turning Stiles into ‘pack mom’ or making Derek way softer than he was in canon. I never really saw the romantic chemistry between them on the show, and their relationship always read more as reluctant allies than potential partners, even older brother younger brother. I think that’s why I can’t get into it, even if I get (not really) why other people like the tension.
Personally, i just see derek fitting better with someone like scott if they ever got together, y’know? because they actually have mutual understanding, respect, and a history that makes sense with their personalities—whereas Sterek often ignores canon character traits to force the ship.
(and honestly, if there’s ever a ‘pack mom,’ it would be Scott 🫣).
