this is gonna be messy and I'm sorry. but i have some thoughts about things. Sorry of this barely makes sense or there are gramatical errors.
the way we read some things as "lgbt" or if they're personal we feel it affecting us directly and feel like they're a part of our experience is something so interesting.
I understand that may not be the case for other people. But it seems so strange that regular songs for movies that were made by people i don't know end up impacting me and i relate to the lyrics, maybe not in the way they're intended to be but on a subtext level.
Listen, i'm a very emotional guy and i easily cry when i get into an argument or watch a sad movie or watch a happy movie that makes me sad. And i understand there's a thing called "universal experiences". It still messes me up that a movie i watched growing up had some lyrics that when i was little meant nothing but what was shown and now i can easily think of my feelings and how i relate to the lyrics, even if they're not about my specific situation but they are somehow.
Take Mulan for example. The song "reflections" is really meaningful to me because it talks about my self image and what i am not and will never be. Which is crazy considering it is not about a specific subject for a specific person and their feelings in a specific situation.
There are others, that is the oldest example i can remember. It's insane to know what words mean and its even crazier to interpret that and come out with a different image than the original intended.
I watch a lot of media, and being bi and taking context from parts and the way things work i analyze a situation in a movie and find romance in the underlines or subtextually between people and others, with different views of the world, different experiences may read those people as being extremely good friends.
Sometimes it may be a case of trying to find a crumb of good representation and overanalizing what happens in the scene. Other times it just comes naturally, just out of me expecting things to be there and similar or close things being there.
For some a song may be good, have good lines and sound great, and for the next person they might feel a personal connection, like the song could've come from deep inside them from how close and personal it feels.
