You stalked through the underbrush and tall grass, keeping your wings pressed close to your body as you stalked a young doe that was standing alone. Every step was carefully calculated, making the least amount of noise so as to not startle your prey too soon.
Just as you were about to strike there was a strange thrumming in the air, and a shift in the ambient magic that caused your fur to raise on end. A loud crash somewhere to your right alerted the doe and caused it to bound away, making you growl in irritation as you watched your meal disappear into the trees.
Of course you could track it down, but there was something wrong and you wanted to get to the bottom of it. This forest was your tribe’s territory, and there shouldn’t be any trespassers from any of the other kingdoms since the treaty was signed. Plus, the magic around you felt off, and it made all your fur stand on end. You shook your body, the tremors extending to the tips of your wings and tail before you willed your fur to settle, even just a little.
You sniffed the air, immediately picking up on a smell you knew from Abdren, the kingdom of the Volkaides.
Oil.
You bounded through the forest towards the source of the smell, the magical disturbance getting stronger the closer you got until you came upon a small clearing that had been made recently by an impact of some kind.
Skidding to a halt at the edge of the small crater you sniffed again, able to now make out the smells of singed cloth and an unfamiliar scent of something akin to burning sap. The source of the smell was a pile of colorful objects in the middle of the crater, slightly smoking with small black trickles trailing out from various places.
Movement from within the pile alerted you and you raised your hackles, letting out a low warning growl. Whatever was moving immediately stopped, and you eased up just slightly before taking a few tentative steps towards the mound of odd colors.
Blues, yellows, reds, golds, and silvers were the dominant colors, but as you drew nearer you could make out finer details- such as the shapes of limbs and oddly round faces.
A sudden movement caused you to jump backwards with a snarl, unfolding your wings to be completely open, making yourself look larger as you growled lowly. A figure had sat up from the pile, their slightly blackened body a mixture of blue and silvery-gray. A slightly burned hat sat upon their head, and as they turned to face you the tip of it let out a weak jingle, the bell having been crushed from the impact.
The figure before you was definitely a machine of some kind, being made of metal and some sort of foreign material. Their body was thin and appeared to be incredubly flexible, if their current position of sitting with their legs facing away from you and their torso turned to face you was any indication. Their face was a strange mimicry of a moon in the crescent phase, with the crescent shape a soft grey color and the rest of the face nearly black.
Aside from the hat upon their head they didn’t wear much else, aside from fancy ruffles around their neck and waist and a pair of blackened, singed pants that once bore a beautiful star pattern. On their feet they wore funny looking shoes with curled toes, crushed metal hanging off the tips.
The figure made a sound similar to someone clearing their throat, and you stopped surveying their appearance to look back at their face, staring them directly in their bright red eyes as you ruffled the feathers on your wings.
“Easy there, no need to be so defensive.” Their voice was low and raspy, and they spoke with a tone that you would have found attractive if it weren’t for the fact they were trespassing on your tribe’s territory. They slowly raised their hands in a gesture of surrender, but you stood your ground, letting out another growl.
A groan came from beside the moon-figure and another metal being sat up, holding their head as black oil trickled down their face like blood.
This other being was almost identical to the moon figure, but seemed to be made in the image of a sun instead. Triangular rays surrounded their flat face like a halo, their whole body being shades of orange, yellow and tan. They wore similar ruffles and shoes to the moon, but their pants were gold and red striped, with a few holes burned into the fabric in various places.
“Oh stars, my EVERYTHING hurts!!!” The golden one complained, and you flicked your ears in their direction when thye spoke. They had a higher pitch to their voice than their counterpart, and there was no raspy quality to it whatsoever.
You growled again, causing the sun to look at you and gasp in shock, their pure white eyes widening slightly as a hand went to cover their mouth. “O-oh! My goodness….. brother, we’re not on Earth anymore, are we?” They asked, seeming to be aiming the question at their companion.
Their question confused you, however. What did they mean, they’re not on earth anymore? They were sitting on it that very moment! You tilted your head and lowered your wings, staring at the moon figure as you waited to hear their answer. The moon shook their head, watching you closely before turning to look at their sun friend. “I’m afraid not, brother. But I have no idea where we are, either.”
You let out a quiet bark of amusement before sitting down, properly folding your wings against your sides. “You’re in the Ingradell Forest.” You replied, using thought-projection magic in order for the two to understand you while still in your wolf form. Both metal figures stared at you for a moment before the sun one clasped their hands together, an excited grin spreading across their face.
“You can TALK?!” They nearly squealed, and their reaction confused you again. You tilted your head to the opposite side, your ears flopping slightly with the movement.
“What do you mean by that? Of course I can talk.”
The moon chuckled, showing off a grin filled with sharp teeth suited for a predator. “What my brother means is that it’s not normal for wolves to talk, much less have an enormous pair of wings.” They spoke with a very amused, matter of fact tone.
You laughed again, and in a swirl of smoke you transformed in front of the two. Your fur disappeared, making way for your human body and simple clothes, your wings pressing tighter and tighter against your skin before merging with your body, becoming detailed tattoos that ran the entire length of your back. As the smoke disappeared, the only thing that remained of your previous form was your tail and ears, as it was with all your people.
Once your transformation completed and the smoke cleared, the two metal figures sat there staring at you in awe. “How did you do that?!!” The sun one asked, moving to sit on their hands and knees, leaning towards you. You stiffened at their approach and growled once more, the fur on your tail bristling.
“I was born that way, as are all of the people in my tribe. The only ones that are questionable are the half-breeds.” The way you spoke made it sound like it was an obvious thing, but to them it must have been new information as they both seemed intrigued.
“Your tribe? Half-breeds?” The moon muttered questioningly, and you nodded, resting your tail on your lap and petting it, smoothing down your fur.
“I’m an Incanten, this forest is my tribe’s territory. A half-breed is when one of our people have offspring with someone of another race. While it’s not forbidden, the elders that are set in their ways of purity severely frown upon it.” You calmly explained, and you seemed to only further confuse the two celestial themed beings.
“Incanten…? Where are we right now? I know you said we were in some sort of forest, but like- what planet is this? Or is this some sort of other dimension?” The moon asked, and you tilted your head in confusion once again.
“I’m not sure what you mean by ‘other dimension’, but this is the continent of Andalento.” You calmly explained, not sure what to make of the whole scenario still. The moon was about to say something else when a howl sounded from the direction of your village, and you stood up quickly. “I have to go, but if you’d like to come back with me to my village we could get your clothes fixed up for now. You don’t seem like a threat to me.”
You said jokingly as you stood, offering a hand out to the still seated moon figure. They took your hand tentatively and you pulled them up, which seemed to take them by surprise as they let out a quiet sound. You then helped up the sun, but when they tried to stand on their own they immediately collapsed, thick oil leaking from one of their legs.
“You’re coming with me to my village whether you like it or not, you obviously need help. We don’t have what you need, but tomorrow I can bring you to the closest Volkaide workshop and see if they can help you.” You said before transforming back into your wolf form, nudging the sun slightly. “Climb on my back.”
The sun let out a soft squawk, shaking their head. “I-I couldn't, I'm too heavy!” They tried to argue, but you stretched out one of your wings and pushed them with it, then pulled them closer to your body.
“Get on, I insist. You’re not too heavy, and the village isn’t far.”
The sun looked at you hesitantly, then glanced at their lunar companion before giving in and climbing on your back. Soot and oil stained your gray fur, and the sun started fussing over it as you began walking toward the village. “Oh dear, oh no I’m so sorry! I’ve ruined your beautiful fur… ohhh what a mess….”
You huffed, rolling your eyes as you crested a hill. “It’s fine, it’ll wash out.” You tried to reassure him, which seemed to work as his ramblings quieted down. A shout from behind startled you, and you nearly knocked the sun off your back as you turned quickly to see who was there, calming down when you saw the moon’s hat stuck on a tree branch.
You turned back around and continued walking, and soon you got to the outskirts of the village. “So, what should we expect, going in here with you? Are we really going to be safe?” The moon asked, and you dipped your head in a nod to one of the hunters standing guard by the entrance before responding.
“You’ll be perfectly safe, I swear. Especially since you’re with me.” You soothed, making your way towards the center of the village. Others around you stared at the two strange beings with you, whispering amongst themselves. You flicked an ear in irritation, your tail swishing to indicate to anyone watching to look away. The whispering stopped, and you continued on your way.
Making it to the center of the village you head to the leader's tent, the one standing guard giving you a nod before lifting a flap of the tent. Upon entering the tent you slid the sun onto the ground carefully before transforming and taking a knee, bowing your head in respect. Several old men looked up at you, their previous discussion falling silent. "My Chief, esteemed Elders. I come requesting permission to aid these two beings of metal."
The Elders began whispering amongst themselves, deciding on whether or not you were to be trusted. One of them turned to you as you lifted your head, and you could see the fur on his tail bristle as you made eye contact. The Elder cleared his throat before speaking to you. “You may escort them around the village, and tomorrow you are to bring them to the closest Volkaide workshop and leave them there.”
Your ear twitched in irritation, but you bowed your head again. “Yes, Elder. It will be done.” You replied before standing back up, walking to where you dropped the sun and picking them up, not bothering to change back into your wolf form. You exited the tent, with the moon following you as you practically carried the sun.
“Oh, wow…. you’re um… strong.” The sun stammered, and you huffed softly, smiling.
“Yeah, well you have to be strong to survive.” You replied, and both robots made a soft humming noise. The rest of the way to your tent was silent, save for the mechanical sounds coming from the two celestial themed beings. Once inside your tent you carefully put the sun on the ground, near the entrance.
“So, I think introductions are a good idea. I’m Moon, and this is Sun.” The moon- aptly named Moon, said and gestured to the sun- Sun.
You bowed your head, raising your tail up behind you. “I am Yintelan, it’s a pleasure to meet you.” You replied before sitting down and grabbing a comb, starting to try and remove the knots in the fur of your tail.
“So, Yintelan… what can you tell us about this place?” Moon asked, sitting down near Sun. You hummed, wrinkling your nose in pain as you pulled the comb through a particularly difficult knot.
“You are on the continent of Andalento, in the main village of the Incanten tribe. There is a Volkaide outpost about two days walk from here, half a day’s flight.” You replied, yawning as you set the comb aside.
Moon sighed, rubbing what you assumed was his forehead as he closed his eyes. “Alright… well, this is not where we were meant to be… I’ve never heard of this place.”
You transformed back into your wolf form, stretching before curling up on your bed. “Well wherever you were meaning to go, you’re here now. I’m gonna get some rest, goodnight.” You then closed your eyes, putting your tail over your nose as you fell asleep, not bothered by the strangers in your tent.
I am going to write a story where reader is transported to another world- one that I made up long ago. I've mentioned the idea before, back when I had very few followers.
It'll still be a DCA x reader, the boys will be gods :)
