Caring for S/O When Sick

Alistair – Being sick is never fun, especially for this light hearted goofball. He hates having to ask you for help when he’s sick but when you yourself fall ill he absolutely goes out of his way to make sure you’re taken care of. Blankets? Yes. Soup? Must have. Need a back rub? He’s all over it. He may hover from time to time but he just wants to make sure your okay.  

Zevran – “You’re sick? We can’t have that now!” Does everything he can to make you comfortable and get you back on your feet. Even stuff you don’t ask him to do, like, reading to you or recounting some of his favorite adventures with you or simply cuddling up with you while you rest under a mountain of blankets he probably “found” around camp. 100% will get sick from being close quarters while you try to recover.

Anders – he’s a healer so he’ll know exactly how to help with whatever ails you. While some ailments can be cured practically overnight, others take time and he’s dealt with enough patients to know how to take care of you. He’s confident that he can help you but he still hates to see you sickly so he’ll do what he can to make you smile or feel better, letting the cat sleep with you and wishing it were him.  

Fenris- He’s not the best at expressing emotion but seeing you sick really messes with him. You’re the strongest person he knows and to see you bested by sickness really throws him for a loop and admittedly he isn’t sure what to do. He’s taken care of himself for so long that taking care of someone else is daunting but he is a loyally dedicated man and will do what he can to help. While he may make mistakes he tries his best and to you that’s what counts.

Sebastian- “Your sick? Why are you out here? Please, let’s go inside.” Even if you aren’t deathly sick he will insist on you staying inside and in bed, not lifting a finger as he handles everything for you.  If he isn’t sure what’s wrong he will call a healer to look you over and get instructions on how to care for you, following them to the letter to ensure your speedy recovery.

Iron Bull- “Are you sick? Don’t breathe on me, if I go down we’re all doomed.” He says this with a grin on his face while his eyes betray worry for you. You insist you’re fine but after watching your fighting spirit wearing thin he finally throws you in bed and insists you rest. He’ll make his chargers keep an eye on you when he can’t be there and will watch you for at least a week after you recover just to make sure your at your best.

Cullen- will want to keep a close eye on you, having his scouts and soldiers bring reports to him while keeping you tucked away safely in his bed.  He will climb that ladder a thousand times a day if you need him to, bringing you soup or extra blankets as you need them and medicine to help you get better. He will also check on you constantly making you smile as he doesn’t have to but he just cares that much.

Solas- he’s the most level headed when it comes to tending to you, gently leading you to bed and urging you to stay there while he makes up something to help you feel better. He is a calm presence during your recovery, seeming to know your needs before you even know what they are and will often leave little flowers on your nightstand for you when he can’t be there.

Blackwall- he’s so used to being by himself that at first he doesn’t know what to do and lets you kind of suffer for a bit before he realizes “oh I should do something!” He apologizes for taking so long to realize you needed him and ramps it up to eleven to help you through the rest of your sickness going out of his way to do what he can. He cares about you and wants to show it even if he does make mistakes every now and then.

very protective

especially if his child is a mage

he's the kind of father to catch his kid before they fall and kiss boo-boos

he coddles a little

but he’s also very strict, not wanting them to get into trouble or found out

he prefers to stick by their side, joining them on any excursions to the woods or town they want to go on

he also likes to go on walks with them and of course train them to protect themselves

he likes cuddles with his kids and will pass out with them in his lap when they're toddlers

♥ Pregnancy HC: Anders

Anders is honestly so wrapped up in his work that he doesn’t even think about being a parent, especially when the two of you have been on the run since Kirkwall. When you aren’t feeling well he examines you and finds out that your pregnant and honestly you are elated at the idea. Anders however is hesitant. Your situation isn’t exactly the best for rearing children but your excitement over it wins him over. Most male figures in his life haven’t been too great so he’s honestly unsure how to even prepare to be a father but your reassurances help him. You tell him no one is ever fully prepared for a baby you just sort of figure it out as you go and he manages to relax. For a while.

His first reaction to his baby: so small, so fragile…

After the pregnancy: Anders defers a lot of the parenting duties to you as he is busy with his traveling clinic and helping his fellow mages but you don’t mind as it keeps you busy and you love your little bundle of joy. The baby works their way into his heart though, crawling around and trying to stand using the tables and chairs for support. He’s fascinated by the child and eventually starts wanting to be home more, watching them as they grow, interacting with them and coming around to helping you with things you need like sitting up with them at night and making food ect…

As the child grows: Anders is a very open and friendly father, willing to teach his child as well as take them with him to his clinic, letting them see the ins and outs of it and learn themselves how to help and read people.

If his child is a Mage: He is more than happy to teach them himself, how to be safe and how to be good with it. He knows the dangers as well as the benefits and refuses to put them in a circle.

Headcannon / ficlet

This is my after my Warden gets back from finding a cure for the Calling. And for now the Warden's name is Duffy because I'm too lazy to change it lmao (those Elvin names are a mouthful O RLY?) In my hc/fics the Warden and Anders kept in touch after Awakening and was like "you're ridiculous, pls meet my ridiculous husband and be ridiculous together" and friendships abound. Since this is a pretty simple little bit I figured I'd go ahead and quickly write it out and put it up.

Alistair shuffled down the hallway towards the kitchen area yawning and scratching his head, hair sticking up every which way. It was barely dawn and he was already up as usual, some habits are hard to break. As he turned the corner he stumbled onto something "Maker" he mumbled, looking down at the small bowl he apparently just upturned and the water that was now spilled all over the floor. "What .." he just looked down at it and kept shuffling over to the counter. Staring at the bowl with his eyes still foggy Apple. Sure that seems doable he yawned again as he grabbed the red fruit and made his way over to the table. Was there a box of dirt on the floor? somewhere in the back of his sleepy mind he wondered if he saw that right. He didn't so much sit in the chair as he fell down on the chair and groaned as he took a big bite of his breakfast. I really should try to go back to sleep he thought as he stared off at the wall across from him while chewing slowly. He leaned his head on the his hand Why did I take such a big bite of this apple he sighed loudly as a huge long haired tortoise shelled cat jumped up on the table and mewed at him. "Well hello cutie!" Alistair said as he put down the apple and began scratching the cat under the chin. He remembered the cats he had as a child always liked that one. The cat began to purr very loudly. "Maker what did you eat this morning, bees?" He finally finished swallowing the first bite of apple when he mindlessly took another and began chewing that slowly as well. "We don't have a cat." He looked at the cat and furrowed his brow.  The cat was a little offended that this man just spit out bits of apple everywhere. "Do we have a cat?" he was very sleepy after all, but all he got in return was a look of disappointment in the sudden lack of scratches the cat was receiving. "Who are you?" still no response. Then he noticed the note on the table.

Hello Wardens! I hear Duffy is having a rough time as of late so I thought I might offer a gift. Did you know that cats will try to use their purring to heal? This is one of my rescues and she purrs non stop. Her name is Knickerweasel. Tell the mabari's to play nice. Hope to see you both soon, love as always - Anders

Alistair sat the note down and smiled "Knickerweasel. Well why didn't you say so?" He left the note and the apple on the table as he gathered the fluffy purring creature up in his arms and walked back toward the bedroom "Let's go pounce on Mamma and wake her up shall we?"

AU Headcanons I guess?

AU in the sense that there is modern music in Thedas. Everything else is normal.

Anders - idk I just associate Anders as a Prince stan lmao You can't tell me otherwise. I mean look at Prince's entire wardrobe, Anders would be like "yes..how can I incorporate this into my robes" and assless pants. Anders is totally down for the purple one.

Plus Prince has all the sex songs and it's Anders etc. So when the clinic closes he's totally cleaning up the place dancing around to I Wanna Melt With U or Cream. Everyone else discovers this when Isabela accidentally walks in on him singing and prancing around and is all "I've seen some things" when asked about it.

Alistair - he's getting in his feelings doing the dishes or something and singing all the Jeff Buckley. Like off key wailing to Lover You Should've Come Over and Warden is just like "omg again" and brings him a tissue. He also likes to pick up the mabari and dance around with it while singing Sweet Thing to the Warden because it makes them laugh, and when everyone is getting drunk at the Pearl he likes to embarass the hell out of Isabela by loudly belting out Everybody Here Wants You to her. While she's trying to hide her face in her hands.
