A piece of paper fell out of Billy's school work folder, a letter snuck there before he was taken away. It was from Hank. How or when he managed to write it, let alone sneak it to Billy, was a mystery known only to Hank.
"I'll get you back, I promise, so don't worry. I'll get a lawyer if I have to. You just behave yourself, do as the people who are taking care of you say to do, and try not to get discouraged. If you need anything, if you are hurt, scared, or aren't being taken care of like you should, call me immediately. Don't worry about the consequences, your health and wellbeing come first. I love you, Billy. See you soon. Love, Dad."

Billy brought the note to the bathroom to read in private and it was a good thing. As he read the words of the man that had taken him in and been the best father he could hope for, the boy was practically sobbing. If only he could contact Hank and tell him how bad it was. That the family they put him with was horrible to him and their other kids. All he wants is to go back home with his sister and brothers.
“Dad, please.” He sobbed, alone in the stall. “I just wanna go home.”
