HR 2616 IS GOING TO REMOVE ALL SENSE OF TRANS SAFETY FROM PUBLIC SCHOOLS. IT WILL

•out trans students (up to grade 8) who ask for gender affirming care in their schools

•prevent teachers from using correct names, pronouns etc from trans students (up to grade 8) without parental consent

•prevent teachers from acknowledging students (up to grade 8) trans identities without parental consent

•remove all federal funding from schools who refuse

if you cant already tell why this is harmful, trans kids up to 14 years old will be invalidated and forced to conform to standards that shouldnt exists in the first place. more and more trans kids are coming out every day, and the us government is stifling that freedom.

so my mother has made it abundantly clear that as long as im living under my parents’ roof and they’re still paying for stuff (which was mainly college) then im not allowed to get tattoos, haircuts they dont like, dye my hair, etc. and anytime i bring it up my mom just gives me that ~mom stare~ and i back off bc fuck that but like ??? im 23 fucking years old and i have a job and money of my own and sure i still live with my parents but that is not by choice just circumstance (read: pandemic). i literally cannot wait to be out of here and have some personal freedom again. living with my parents is like being back in high school and that was not a healthy mentality for me the first time around and now ive been living at home for the longest time since high school so it’s just not great tbh. 

living at home unable to change the one thing im supposed to have control over (myself) is pretty shit. i already dont feel like a human person and then passing a mirror and being like ??? thats....me ???? is just weird and tiring anyways once i move out my parents are in for a big surprise when i come back with tattoos and an appearance that actually makes me happy. maybe they’ll cut me off. maybe i’ll care. at the very least, i’ll be happy.

The amount of car accidents I've almost gotten into this year is unbelievable. Why do people think it's okay to just do their own thing when there's a car literally right there beside or around you?

Kinda controversial take, but...

Companies and celebrities using pride month to get more money isn't the end of the world? At least they view us as a marketable demographic rather than shoving us aside and pretending we don't exist, or demonizing us for who we are. These industries see everyone as a potential cash grab, and we went from being excluded to being part of that everyone. There are obviously much better alternatives, but there are also way, way worse ones.

So yes, of course, donate to reputable charities and support companies who do as well. Support small LGBTQ+ artists and creators too, please. That's an absolutely wonderful and amazing way to celebrate pride. But if a rainbow cup at starbucks and a pop artists new song make you feel seen... Well, that's pretty dang great, too.
