Front and rear cover details of the first edition of Honor Blackman's Book Of Self-Defence, hardback with slip cover, published by Andre Deutsch in 1965. Written by Blackman and brothers Joe and Doug Robinson - both brothers were trained martial artists and had worked on The Avengers during Blackman's tenure, as stuntment and fight arrangers. Blackman had been practising judo at Londons famous Budokwai dojo since winning the role of Cathy Gale; a well publicised incident in which she knocked professional wrestler Jackie Pallo unconscious, and her casting as Pussy Galore in Goldfinger, certainly had some influence on the decision to print this volume of judo techniques. The bottom photograph shows Honor enjoying a read of her own newly released book.
