GGB: I was sitting all the way back there close to the air conditioning when Amores Perros won the BAFTA. And Alejandro couldn’t come because he was afraid of flying. So I was sitting in the back and Amelie was competing that year, and Amelie, come on, Amelie had a lot of nominations, and he [Alejandro] didn’t come and so Amores Perros wasn’t gonna win. He gave me his seat; I was here in London so he said, ‘Do you wanna go?’ and I said, “Yes, okay, that’ll be great”. And suddenly, “the winner is… Ammm—ores Perros”.
