Always began life back in February. I intended it to be a 4-track EP. This show and these characters stirred life to my muse and 21 songs later I had this album.
Always is an album inspired by the ABC Network show Castle. There are a whole lot of love songs, there are a whole lot of songs that also explore loss, fighting for whats right and mental health. I put so much of myself into this that everything rings true. You do not need to be a fan of the show to enjoy this, but the show lit my muse on fire and I was compelled to make and make and make without a passion and drive I had not felt before.I wish I'd kept a journal. But there was a lot of bad days among the good and I guess I'm glad those weren't all that well documented. I spent a lot of time with my guitar, ukulele and notebook,writing and binge watching the show. I'm kind of shocked at just how much I had to get down. I've had a really bad year dealing with my mental health and this kept me afloat. I found so much comfort and strength in these characters and I found I was so creative.
Castle has been such a special part of my life and I hope that this album will inspire and provide the same comfort and joy it's given me this year.
Thank you to the cast and crew of Castle for making such an amazing show. I miss it every day. You've inspired me endlessly. Thank you especially to Andrew Marlowe, Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion. Caskett lives on in our hearts. Always.
