It was always going to end this way. The Warriors can shoot and outscore teams, and the Warriors can ruin teams with defense. They can go small with Draymond at center, they can go big and rotate Festus Ezeli with Andrew Bogut. They can go fast, or they can go warp speed. They are basically unbeatable at home, and they might be even better on the road. They can win 79 games with one lineup, and then they can go down a game in the NBA Finals, reinvent their entire rotation, and go win the title. After a playoffs colored by injuries and exhaustion, it’s perfect that the last team standing is the one able to adapt to anything.

It’s not that Ndamukong Suh is even a little bit overrated. Same with Darrelle Revis. Even Brandon Marshall is great. But I feel like every year we hear about AFC East teams “loading up” to go after the Patriots, whether it’s Buffalo with Mario Williams, Miami cashing out Mike Wallace, or the Jets changing offensive coordinators. Actually, it’s almost always the Jets changing offensive coordinators. None of it ever works. Maybe it’s because the Patriots are just that good, maybe it’s because they play in a division with the most snakebitten franchises in football. Something always goes wrong. The biggest splash always turns into a mess.
Andrew Sharp, 10 Lingering Questions From NFL Free Agency
Michael Jordan was fortunate enough to spend most of his career playing next to Scottie Pippen, the sidekick who complemented everything Jordan did well, and Jordan played for one of the best coaches of all time. Tim Duncan and Gregg Popovich found each other. Magic Johnson got Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and then lucked into James Worthy as a no. 1 pick. Kobe Bryant got Shaquille O’Neal, and then Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom. Joe Montana got Bill Walsh and Jerry Rice. Bill Belichick, the greatest football coach ever, wouldn’t have come close to four Super Bowl victories had he not stumbled into a sixth-round pick who turned into the greatest quarterback of all time. This is how sports work, and it’s actually how life works.

He had 23 touchdowns in 2007. Watching Brady and Moss together was like watching two athletes who had been waiting their whole careers to play with someone that amazing. Moss brought out a side of Brady nobody knew existed, and Brady brought out a side of Moss everyone assumed was gone. It was all turning into the perfect ending he never got in 1998.
