Deliverance

He should be relieved to leave this place, to finally be free, to escape the wrath of El’azar Ren. But he finds himself almost homesick at the thought of leaving Casimir. It had not treated him kindly, but it’s the only place he’s ever known. Yet he also can’t help but feel overjoyed: never again will a needle penetrate his skin, never again will he be subjected to unethical and cruel experimentation. He is no longer a pawn in his master’s game: now he’s free of his strings. 

For the first time in over 10 years, Niko feels his tongue touch the roof of his mouth. It’s strange and almost foreign to think that once again he is capable of words. Perhaps as a child that might have thrilled him, but now he is almost afraid that the words won’t come out right: that this is just another of El’azar’s ploys. 

When he hears familiar voices, Niko swallows thickly (another luxury that had been taken from him as a small boy). Since his resurrection, his appearance has changed drastically. What if they no longer want him? This thought plagues Niko as Andromeda and Draco get closer and closer bringing his fate along with them. @not-pawns
