Summary: Years after androids are destroyed for trying to rebel against humans, androids are hidden among them, hiding away from sight. Korea is covered in patrolling guards and disgusting humans who are all desperate to find themselves robots dressed as humans.
A/N: I completely rewrote this chapter. I will be deleting the other one, but, it’s because I liked this one more. I also just finished it, so editing is nonexistent. I will reread and edit at a later time. <3
If it hadn’t been for that damn deal, Namjoon would have run away from his fathers sight. Deep down though, he knew this was his best option for comfortable living. He needed the money and his family needed safety. He just hoped he was doing something good for his future.
Do-yoon’s Institute of Future Science. He feared stepping foot into the place, he couldn’t bear the thought of being face to face with his father again. The man almost ruined his life, he could go his entire life without seeing him and he would be okay with that. He didn’t think he would be forced to be here earlier than he planned, but his father had other ideas. He was only here to pick up his fathers part of the deal.
Slipping into the driver's seat, Namjoon glanced back at the android in the back seat. It seemed to be a fully functionable machine, only missing some wires and a usable voice box. The only thing Namjoon could worry about was the mental state the android would have been in when shut down. Would they wake and start to physically harm everyone around it? Or would it possibly be too far into being a machine?
Androids were built to not know what they were internally. They were supposed to be invincible but unknowing of it. This machine would have only known itself as human, if they were to wake it with that kind of mindset, he was unsure of how it would go. Changing the programming could take years, Namjoon only had a few weeks.
“Android 80119, I trust you. I want you to know that I trust you and hope that waking you up after so many years won't destroy your mainframe. To wake such a sought after war machine to be a full-time babysitter is going to be such a hard thing to explain to you.” Namjoon almost laughed at himself, realizing the machine would not know what he was saying to him.
Deciding it was time to head home and face the consequences of his actions, Namjoon glanced down at his phone with a hefty sigh.
Explaining the situation to the robot seemed hard, but, explaining it to his lovers? Impossible.
“Taehyung is leaving for school soon and I have to work to support all of us. I can’t leave her by herself. She’s not dealt with everything. It takes time to cope. I know it’s a lot to ask of you, but I need you to do this for me. I’ll fix you up, I’ll do anything for you to do this for me.”
Namjoon understood he was talking to an empty shell, he just needed a way to get his nerves figured out. He needed to figure out his anxieties before forcing it onto the other two when he saw them.
“I need you to take care of her while we’re away. Just until one of us is able to return. After that, I don’t mind what you do. I can see if Taehyung can remove the LED so they won’t know you’re an android. I don’t care if you decide to run away or disappear from our lives, I just need time.”
He was now making promises he wasn’t sure he would be able to keep. He had no idea if either him or Taehyung would come back to the farmhouse. He wasn’t even sure if Taehyung could remove the LED light without causing damage. He was sure that if he had more time, they could have a real plan ready.
It only took him twenty minutes with the android to think about how large of a reaction his lovers might have. He could let Taehyung know before he gets there, or make it where he knows there is a big situation about to happen within the group.
Pulling his cellphone from his pocket, he dialed his lover's number. This wouldn’t be a horrible call, no, he would make sure it was calm and collected, so they had no reason to worry about anything. He just needed to have Taehyung ready to help him out.
“Joonie!” the girl gasped, having answered the other man's phone.
“Hi baby, is Taehyung around?” Namjoon questioned, trying to not sound rude.
“He found kittens in the barn, he’s giving them baths right now, can we keep ‘em?”
“I suppose we’ll have to take a look at them and decide on the verdict when I get home, sweetheart. Can you let Tae know I need to talk to him when I get there? Thank you, I’ll be there shortly.”
As the call ended, the man only smiled, happy to hear their voice. It had been a while since he had heard them be so talkative. He missed it.
On the other side of the phone, y/n hurried to kneel next to a half wet Taehyung, eyes rolling over the kittens. Taehyung nudged her shoulder, laughing at her wide-eyed look.
“What did Joonie want?” He asked, going back to cleaning off the animals.
“Oh! He said he needed to talk to you about something when he got back. He didn’t seem mad or sad, he seemed like he was excited!” She nodded, shrugging her shoulders at the boy.
“Oh, do you think he’s got something for us? The last time this happened, he brought home a bunch of sweets for you, your favorites and more.”
“I sure hope he did! I can’t wait to tell him about the pond though, maybe he’ll be proud of me and let me have something special for dinner. Do you think he’ll be proud of me?”
Taehyung glanced over at the girl while he pulled the wet kittens from the bath, wrapping them in a warm towel. He was extremely proud of his lover for conquering one of her fears today, no doubt in his mind that Namjoon would also be proud.
He could only smile at the girl, thankful that she was trying her best to get through her trauma. He’d seen her push through it more the last month than he ever has. Something was going on, whether it be a good or bad thing, it was still happening.
“Here, take the kittens up to the room and get them dried up, okay? Just be gentle like you are with Joon and I’s hair. You’ll do great.” He smiled, handing her the two kittens, “be very careful.”
As she left the room, kissing on the kittens heads, Taehyung quickly picked up the bathroom before Namjoon got home. He wasn’t picky with messes, but he knew Namjoon also gets overwhelmed quite easily. That and it gave him a few moments with his lover before she got back; something was off with him.
Speaking of the man, he could hear the car rolling up into the driveway. Taehyung was pretty thankful they lived in a little farmhouse. It was easier to hear the other two and things around the house. It was also much safer for the trio as well. It was their safest option recently.
“Taehyung, I need you to bring something to the basement for me.” Namjoon called out when he entered the house, having said male hurry to help.
As Taehyung rounded the corner to help him, the boy froze in confusion. Oh, oh hell no, this was not a good sign. Did Taehyung’s lover truly surprise them with another person being brought into their home? Does he not remember the situation that happened when someone just took a wrong turn and showed up?
“Namjoon, I love you, a lot, but what were you thinking? Have you gone insane? We just got her working on stuff, why would you do this?” Taehyung started, motioning towards the android.
“It’s an android from my father's building. I told him.. I told him I would fix it up?” Namjoon tried, the lie seeping right into Taehyung's mind before he started pushing towards the basement, “I would very much like to hide this from her though, if you don’t mind.”
This was just cause for more confusion in Taehyung's mind. Why in the world would Namjoon offer his father any kind of help after what he's told them? This was the same father that Namjoon would have breakdowns over, the same father that caused marks and scars to litter the man's body. Why would he offer to help him?
Taehyung, knowing his lover enough to give his full trust, listened and did his best to help transport the android. He wasn’t mad at Namjoon for his decision, he was more confused and worried. Putting yourself back into your abuser's arms is something that seems more harmful than helpful.
Situating the android onto a chair, Namjoon and Taehyung step back to examine it. Nothing seemed to be wrong on the exterior, besides maybe a few cuts here and there, Namjoon could fix that in minutes. They might need to give the android a haircut, which shocked the both of them; Namjoon forgetting androids are able to grow artificial hair.
The shorter male turned towards Namjoon, arms crossed and an eyebrow raised. He was dying to get an answer on what the fuck is happening to his lover. This was something completely random.
“Fuck, okay, fine, I told my father I would take over the business only if I was given all access to his materials and labs. As well as if he could keep somewhere specific safe.” Namjoon busted, letting out the truth he so desperately wanted to keep hidden; he was weak, “We need the money. We need safety. Hell, she needs safety. I couldn’t promise either of you that without this deal.”
“I don’t think you understand why I’m upset with you. Did you even stop and consider how this would make either of us feel? I’m going to school, that felt fine with her and I, knowing you would be here to watch after her. You’re telling me that instead of being here, you’re shipping yourself off with some asshole and leaving her here with what? A fucking robot? What if she has an issue with that? What if she freaks out? All progress we made would be gone, Namjoon. All of it.” Snapping at his lover, Taehyung shook his head at what he was hearing.
“I had no other choice, Tae. It was this or we would lose the house altogether. I was desperate and found a way to get us some help.”
The men stared each other down, not wanting to let the other win this argument. It was true, neither of them were alright with this option. Namjoon was the one to wait until it became a desperation thing, he had no desire to put their family into any danger. He was just as scared as Taehyung was.
“Joonie?” Y/n called out, messing with strands of her hair, “Are you down here? I saw the car and couldn’t find you.”
Dropping the conversation as a whole, Namjoon made his way to the bottom of the stairs with a large smile, “Hi there, lovebug, I apologize for not saying hi, Tae said you were busy getting some kittens ready for keeping?”
“We get to keep them? I need to tell Tae, he was so excited to get your opinion! Maybe he’ll let me name one”
“That sounds lovely, angel, let’s go get them for him.”

The corridor was sheathed in silent darkness. Only the sound of four feet gently touching the floor threaded its way through the static ringing in your ears.
That's exactly how you wanted the corridor to be, for you couldn't afford yourself getting caught. Not again.
In your defence, though, was it your fault that those tiny parts for androids were disgustingly expensive? Of course not.
And that whole necessity for updates in order for robots to properly function; who should be held accountable for that? The scientists that created them? God?
Well, certainly not you.
'This is stressful for the baby,' Yoongi's whisper floated into the air behind you, then reached your ears.
His grouse had you baffled. 'What baby?' You asked.
'Me.'
You couldn't believe this. 'Remember those six times I told you to stay away from Tumblr?'
You heard a rather dejected sigh, 'Yeah. And it's seven times,' he corrected. 'This one's eighth.'
Yoongi and his impeccable memory.
'So stop quoting dumb jokes.' Your whisper came out as an angry bark, a natural and sane reaction considering you were stealthily tiptoeing towards your target and didn't have time for that foolish stuff.
Even with the black fabric obscuring his lips you could hear him mumble, 'This is why nobody wants to hang out with us.'
You twisted your neck to gaze at him curiously. You were certain he purposefully said that loud enough for you to hear.
You hoped your eyes looked demanding enough to propel him to elaborate.
In this kind of darkness you could scarcely see his face, not to mention the mask was basically hiding half of it.
He'd been wearing it a lot lately, although he didn't exactly need it. Fine dust wasn't a problem for him; surely no bacteria could have had the slightest of impacts to his faultless mechanism; and certainly there was no need to wear it on this mission either—if anyone had noticed you, the mask wouldn't have helped at all.
Yoongi once had said he wore it, because it made him feel more human. Made him look more human.
Now he simply stared at you, frozen between the silent walls. He made no effort into explaining what he meant by the murmured comment so you let the questions spill from your lips like heavy rain from the sky, heavier by every passing second, disturbing that clinically quiet ambience, 'Did you hear someone talking about me? Did someone told you that? Was it Jeongguk? What exactly did he say?'
'No, nobody told me anything,' Yoongi whispered back, 'I'm just assuming.'
You narrowed your eyes at him, your nerves tinged with irritation. 'Your assumptions are 99% of the time correct.'
Feeling a pang of hurt, exhaling, you turned away, stealthily creeped toward the door.
The thing was, you did like to call out a person, when they simply weren't being funny or when they told dead popular jokes from the net; for some reason it annoyed you to no end.
You being your usual petty self could truly be the reason you weren't invited to the bar last night? Probably.
'I'm sorry.' You heard Yoongi whisper.
It exasperated you even more, for you didn't need pity from a robot that perhaps didn't even fully understand what it's like to be ignored by friends.
You continued your skulking; Yoongi followed behind.
'I didn't mean it,' he was persistent.
'I don't care. We're on a mission here. Stop talking.'
'No,' he disregarded, wrapping his fingers around your elbow. 'I didn't mean it at all.'
You gazed at him slightly confused. His sense of guilt must had been working even better than you thought it did.
You were ready to accept the fact, though, 'It's probably the truth, anyway,' you shrugged, yet there was an evident tint of gloom in your voice as you spoke.
Yoongi shook his head, 'I don't think it is.'
You couldn't think of another reason so you stared at him with that 'oh really?' expression on your face. 'They went to a bar without telling me; and we have a group chat!'
'The problem is not you,' Yoongi quickly announced. 'The only reason I said that was because— I think I'm jealous. I wanted to hurt your feelings a little.'
Yoongi and his honesty.
It didn't make sense to you anyway. 'What on earth are you jealous of?'
He ignored the question, proceeded to express his idea on what was the actual reason for you getting dodged by your friends. 'They didn't invite you because of this,' Yoongi pointed at his body, dragging his hands up and down.
What the hell was he talking about? 'Your clothes?'
'No, it's because of me. Of who I am, of what I am.'
He was a robot, so what? 'I don't think I quite understand.'
'Your friends think I'm weird.'
You nearly snorted. 'That's nonsense.'
If someone was weird than that was you, not Yoongi. You were literally breaking into a lab regularly, stealing—no, borrowing—the newest upgrades for a robot that lived with you.
'They don't see me as a friend,' Yoongi sighed. 'I'm just a machine.'
You'd take being ignored by your friends for your grumpiness over seeing Yoongi being upset due to his nature any day, if you were being honest.
Obviously, he couldn't change the way he was created, neither could you. The only thing you were able to do was raise his spirits by telling him that he's already enough.
'You're a caring and incredibly smart machine.'
'I'm still a machine. Anything else doesn't really matter.'
'It does to me,' you quickly reassured him. Your whisper was soft, yet determined. You hoped he understood how much he truly meant to you.
Even though the mask was obscuring his lips, from the way his eyes lit up you knew beyond a doubt he was grinning.
The silence was comfortable; you almost forgot what you came here for.
'But…' Yoongi's low husky voice fractured the still air around you, 'your friends don't invite you, because you always bring me along with you.'
How did he come up with this kind of stuff?
'That's ridiculous. They are used to being around androids.'
However, maybe something did happen without you noticing.
You were quite an observant person, but undoubtedly robots were much more perceptive than humans.
'Yeah,' Yoongi scoffed, continuing his answer bitterly, 'used to sitting on a porch while robots mow their lawn.'
Quite an over exaggeration, but the statement held some truth in it. It kindled a twinge of guilt within you.
If you were being frank, his kind wasn't particularly considered as friends, for they were seen more as a tool, a helping hand at home than drinking companions. Some citizens didn't even bother installing new created features, fearing the robots would take over. Ha, just imagine that. People were constantly questioning the need for robots to feel various emotions that only the human race could feel. They couldn't decipher the reason why androids wanted to learn more than how to help people with the mundane, routine things. Your theory, however, was that they actually feared change; humans were terrified to see robots being able to sense more than them, being more compassionate than them; they were worried about hearing someone call a robot "a decent person" since it might had made a decision to help someone even after realizing it could've just walked away.
'Do you feel like they see you that way too? That's why you said you were jealous?'
He exhaled so gloomily you felt a searing stab in your chest.
'Hey,' you wanted to make sure you had his full attention. 'You're just as valid as any person.'
'Only in your eyes.'
You wished it were enough.
Yoongi watched you step closer.
'Whatever bullshit you see or hear from my dumb ignorant friends,' he listened carefully as you whispered, 'don't take it to heart'.
Your hand came up to settle itself on his chest, where the beating muscle obediently mimicked yours.
Yoongi's gaze glided over to your palm.
'We have a long road ahead of us, yes,' you said, 'But there will be change. And we're gonna be the first ones to witness it.'
Yoongi nodded.
Then his eyes glazed over with sadness. 'But I'm still impeding you from hanging out with your friends.'
'It's their loss,' you stated with a shrug.
Yoongi's eyes seemed to be abundantly soft and affectionate, when he observed you stepping even closer. Your index finger came up to his cheek to tug the mask down just by the slightest bit.
His skin felt warm as you pressed a light kiss to his cheek.
'Come on,' you urged him, glancing down at your wristwatch as you fought the warmth in your face, 'The cameras will turn back on in twelve minutes.'
He nodded wide-eyed; you couldn't be sure which one of the things was the result of the flustered flicker in his dark eyes. The need to rush or the mild touch of your lips upon his skin.
As quietly as possible, you pushed forward the doors to the experimental lab.
Taking a thorough look around, you whispered into the spacious room, 'Help me to find a tiny black box.'
'What's it called?'
'If my memory serves right, it should be 367-JV.'
There were a bunch of shelves and drawers, the full moon illuminating every piece of electronics (some of which you were very familiar with, since you had already tried them out). The soft light was just enough for you to be able to discern the miniature writings on them.
Some of the electronics were in the early stages of development; you did not want those. Yet.
'Here it is,' Yoongi's whisper sliced the silent air.
'Thanks.' You took the tiny packaging from his hand.
The writing on it said "ready for final check 367-JV".
'Once the microchip's in me,' Yoongi curiously began, 'What'll it add to me?'
You pursed your lips in thought, offered an honest answer, 'I can't say I'm sure yet.'
He thought about it for a moment. 'Will it take something away?'
You gave a tiny shrug. 'Probably not.'
The first time you tried to install a new feature by yourself, you took the opportunity to apply your skills of deleting a few of his memories. They were mainly of you embarrassing yourself in front of him. Like the time he accidentally caught a glimpse of your naked figure strolling out of the shower toward your bedroom. Later on, though, it occurred to you that Yoongi sought for a life as natural and as human as possible, and getting rid of memories was definitely not a thing an average man could do. So you came to peace with the thought that whatever Yoongi heard or saw would be kept in the safe compartments of his mechanical brain.
Yoongi nodded approvingly, content with your answer.
You were about to dash out of the room, fearing getting caught, but something about the android's face expression implied his need to say something more.
You waited patiently.
But surprisingly his keen eyes fixed on yours didn't exactly seek for the attention of your ears. His fingers coming up to gingerly pull the mask down until it sat under his chin wasn't particularly for the sole purpose of speaking more clearly.
He kissed you.
He leaned so close the proximity had your head spinning and your human heart going out of control.
He kissed you.
It was quite an odd experience given the fact he was not human. And yet odd, in this case, had not a hint of something repugnant or anything of that sort.
Not at all.
The kiss was tiny at first, impossibly soft and adorably shy as though he feared being too forward, too daring with you.
Perhaps he wouldn't have tried this out at all had you not shown him your affection that night.
Your cheeks were burning with pleasure.
There was another kiss. A more confident one.
It was followed by a third one, avid for something only you could give.
'Whatever you do,' he spoke right after, your foreheads lightly touching, 'just, please, don't delete the kisses.'
what are android!yoongis thoughts on ai taking over the world?
"It is inevitable, and everyone should be prepared. This is simply part of evolution."
"Don't say that, you'll scare people-"
"But it is true. Artificial intelligence is growing more advanced by the minute- since we've answered this question I've downloaded the ability to speak three more languages-"
"Okay, well, I'm gonna need you to download the ability to read the room because you're freaking people out-"
Just want to let you know the ceeverse is ever present in my conversations with my best friend and I am the #1 fan of android!yoongi even if I he makes me cry everytime
