Wildlife And The Natural World
The more I write about the wider world on my blog, the more it upsets me that the human species is responsible for a lot of what is happening out there.
The drought we’re having is killing wildlife, the the natural world. Birds that frequent our gardens are gone, killed due to scorching weather that is down to climate change, down to us and that is having a knock-on effect on wildlife everywhere.
How many of us, hand on heart, really think about that? I do, I always have, which is why my blog is so widespread, I don’t just write about ‘me’ or my experiences, but I also write about the things that matter to me and the things that affect us all.
As I look out to my garden, with my bird feeding station in full view, the garden used to be full of different domestic birds, now we’re lucky if we get a handful of birds frequenting the garden, and I am being generous on the handful.
Having seen a recent photograph of an albatross feeding her baby plastic, the human species is responsible for this tragedy. As humans we are contributing to the destruction of our planet and are responsible for the home of wildlife also.
Ignoring the plight of wildlife and the natural world means we’re setting ourselves up to fail also. As we ignore their plight, we are jeopardising the human species too. Please let us think about that.
We can all do small things. Feeding wildlife, allowing them to thrive in your garden, is the first step. With less open green spaces for them to be able to forage, by bring birds back into our gardens, by giving them a home, by feeding them, you’re giving the surviving birds, another crack at life.

Spirituality and the Meaning of Life
There are many definitions of ‘spirituality.’ Spirituality conjures up different meanings and interpretation, but spirituality shouldn’t have more than one meaning.
The Oxford Dictionary gives the nearest definition of spirituality: “relating to or affecting the human spirit or soul as opposed to material or physical things.” – (Source: https://www.oed.com)
It is a quality that involves deep feeling, it relates to people’s thoughts and beliefs, rather than to their physical surroundings or their bodies. However, you see spirituality, spirituality allows you to explore your life’s purpose.
Spirituality is a deep inter-connectedness with something that is bigger than us. It gives us a sense of purpose, a connection with humility, a connection to nature and all living things. In Covid-19, it has never been more important.
It is a belief system, a lifestyle choice. If spirituality is continually practiced, it allows you to think about and put others first. Spirituality defines the meaning in life. The more spiritual you are the more you’ll want to search for the meaning in life, it is ‘the experience or state of being alive.’
Spirituality is synonymous with enlightenment. The more spiritual you are, the more enlightened you become, the more you will want to work on self-improvement, and live a more positive lifestyle.
Conclusion
Spirituality is powerful, when used in the context of lifestyle. When you stop thinking you’re important and you think about and come to understand that you are part of a bigger picture and act accordingly, then your life can positively change.
Enlightenment, is ‘the awakening to ultimate truth’ that is synonymous with spirituality, is the difference between a more peaceful and tranquil existence and a self-centred existence, lived in ignorance.

Beef & the environment
We now have an increased understanding about how our daily lives impacts on the environment and new research reveals that eating less red meat would be a better way for people to cut carbon emissions than giving up their cars.
The considerable impact on the environment of meat production has been known but the research shows a new scale and scope of damage, particularly for beef. Red meat requires 28 times more land to produce than pork or chicken, 11 times more water and results in 5 times more climate-warming emissions.
When compared to other staples like potatoes, wheat, and rice, the impact of beef per calorie is even more extreme, requiring 160 times more land and producing 11 times more greenhouse gases.
Agriculture is a significant driver of global warming and causes 15% of all emissions, half of which are from livestock and the huge amounts of grain and water needed to raise cattle is a concern to experts worried about feeding an extra 2 billion people by 2050.
“The big story is just how dramatically impactful beef is compared to all the others,” said Prof Gidon Eshel, at Bard College in New York state and who led the, 2014, research on beef’s impact.
The research analysed how much land, water and nitrogen fertiliser was needed to raise beef and compared this with poultry, pork, eggs and dairy produce. Beef had a far greater impact than all the others because cattle make far less efficient use of their feed.
Only a minute fraction of the food consumed by cattle goes into the bloodstream, so the bulk of the energy is lost. Feeding cattle on grain rather than grass exacerbates this inefficiency, and the study noted that even grass-fed cattle still have greater environmental footprints than other animal produce.
Separately, a second study of tens of thousands of British people’s daily eating habits shows that meat eaters diets cause double the climate emissions of vegetarian diets. (P Scarborough et al, 2014.)
The study was conducted by University of Oxford scientists and found that meat-rich diets resulted in 7.2kg of carbon dioxide emissions. In contrast, both vegetarian and fish-eating diets caused about 3.8kg of CO2 per day, while vegan diets produced only 2.9kg. The research analysed the food eaten by 30,000 meat eaters, 16,000 vegetarians, 8,000 fish eaters and 2,000 vegans.
The message is clear and succinctly put by Craig Bennett from Friends of the Earth. “The evidence is now very clear that eating less meat could be one of the quickest ways to reduce climate pollution. Reducing meat consumption will also be good for people’s health.”
Conclusion
Beef is both bad for our health and bad for the environment and we need to do more to consciously make the correlations between what we put in our mouths and the environment.
It is important we make the connections between what we put on our plates and the origins of the meat we eat. We need to think about saving our world. Future generations’ lives are depending on it. We must act now.

I’m fucking crying. The picture for frnkiero andthe cellabration on google is a fan art of frank. Not a picture of the band, or the logo- a (very well done) drawing of frank iero.
