SK8 - My 2020 Season Edit, by Andy Kolb
I hope you have all enjoyed 10 years of Tao, it’s surely been an adventure for me, with so many great experiences, which would never have been possible without the support from my sponsors. Rip Curl International in particular have played a big part in the last 10 years, initially supporting me as a 11 year old GROM with podium incentives. From 2015 they also financially supported most of my video projects. Without the support of Rip Curl, almost all of my projects would not have happened.
At the start of this year, Rip Curl International decided that they can no longer support me, as they concentrate their marketing budget on Surf. That decision was made, after I had already planned my 2020 season projects. This happened before the global impact of Covid-19.
One project was a winch trip in Sri Lanka. I already flew to Sri Lanka and found many unique spots, but sadly have had to cancel this project for the time being.
Ten Years of TAO, Podiums and SK8, for 2020, I still committed to. I had already asked Andy before Rip Curl International dropped me. I wanted to end my 10 year journey, celebrating with something special and finishing with a bang !
Without support from Rip Curl International, the following edits would not have been possible. Tao – Brandon Thomas Eclipse – Andy Kolb The Grom Sessions – Andy Kolb The Search – Andy Kolb X-Games Real Wake – Brandon Thomas Podiums – Andy Kolb Sk8 -AndyKolb
Sadly, I will not be able to commit to any video projects in the immediate future, as I look for new sponsors.
I am pleased to say that Rip Curl / Thailand, will continue to support me locally in Thailand, in much less exclusive way. I will be discussing with them, on a case by case basis about potential local projects and hope while I am more locally based, I can help grow the sport in this region.
As I say goodbye to the last 10 years, I look forward to what the next 10 will bring. Likes: 0 Viewed: source
