Well. We have applied a DropBox based business model to financial services for the first time...So the way it works, just like DropBox gives you a certain amount of storage for free and then they charge you, so we manage your first $10K for free. Then only charge a quarter of a percent thereafter. For every person you invite, you and they each get an additional $5K managed for free. So if you invite 10 of your friends who join…You’ll have $60K managed for free. So what we tell people to do is try it with $10K and see how you like it. It’s a freemium model.

I know that many of our clients at Wealthfront are tempted to become angel investors after they sell their company stock post-IPO. It’s not that I think becoming an angel is a bad idea; it’s just that most people who expect to make money as angel investors are fooling themselves.

Идея Wealthfront, пока лично не опробывал, появилась после того, как Andy Rachleff, бывший партнер Benchmark Capital, а ныне президент Wealthfront, стал получать от людей работающих в таких компаниях, как Google и Facebook, информацию о проблемах с поиском финансого советника.
