Let Me Drown by Orville Peck is peak Andromaquynh vibes, I am right.
thinking about andy and the passage of time, the way she may never be able to meaningfully conceptualise her earliest years, even the first thousand, maybe two thousand, years of her life. not that the cultures she was running with didnt have calendars but they dont mesh with modern takes on linear time and mapping it. she defines time with the appearances of other immortals: first quynh, then lykon and then joe&nicky, then booker and nile. quynh is the one to make her think about time as a measurement, because wants to measure her time with quynh and everything entails.
the passing of the seasons aren't a drag, even come quicker now, with quynh and then along comes lykon whose enthusiasm has made time race quicker again. hundreds of years pass, thousands, and the joy and quick pace ends with lykon's death. the fear and the panic and the loss, it all taints the way she sees time until the two men come fighting into immortality, all vibrating and seething self hatred and anger and maybe time takes tentative steps towards that joyful rate again and then. and then it happens and the world crashes into itself, crushing everything in her that could be happy, that could be joyful. it's no surprise that when booker first wakes he wants them gone. she waits him out, knowing what he's going to go through, inevitably. she doesn't say i told you so.
and then nile. nile who shows up during the worst time of her life, all spitfire and self assured and maybe that sense of time comes back. despite everything she's seen and been through, she lets it back in and mourns and comes to terms with what the betrayal meant to her. what her lack of immortality means for her and everyone around her. she teaches nile everything she can, everything nile wants to learn. time trickles by like a simple creek. then nile wakes frantic, sweat doused and trembling. she'd seen a woman. a woman in red. talking to booker. she looks like quynh, she says.
time flows past fast, now. the world is right again.
