so i was thinking about @danaes-silver-hammer andyliam fic and how i will be citing it in the future as a crystalline andyliam vibe gauge that lends support to my correct andyliam fact beliefs. and i got to thinking about how andy’s role as liam’s quiet, sincere, gentle, protective, self-compromisingly supportive friend, co-worker, and part-time casual lover is a character type straight out of the l word. like it’s genuinely a mix of a couple different characters and storylines but that is legit who andy is 😭 crushing hard on liam but he knows liam will not be able to return his feelings bc liam’s not just in love with but soul-bound to his brother ex, who btw is andy’s boss and begrudgingly a friend. and andy disapproving of the way that noel treated liam as a brother and creative partner and being purposefully gentle with him and trying to train liam to love and trust himself 😭 (in rl with the comments about not being mean about his own work, consoling him after he was heckled, etc).

on the l word the narrative vibe is usually ‘aww look at this person with their heart on their sleeve, who is being purposeful about not inflicting emotional abuse on their lover bc they know what their lover has been through with their evil ex, and they’re just so much better than the ex but in the end they won’t be chosen.’ see poor jodi lerner + helena and the most frustratingly inevitable cheating plot with bette + tina, every girl shane ever traumatized, tim/jenny/marina. oooh and ficnoel recording them having sex followed by the calm and collected but extremely sharp confrontation between andy and noel where andy demonstrates he is ready and perfectly able to play the game. dyke drama!! that scene absolutely could be one of the stand-alone gay sex stories that the l word had as episode openers.
