I feel like you must have answered this before but I can't find it anywhere so I'll just ask: What's the Angaran greeting, "Stars and skies", in Shelesh? They say it all the time but I can't find it in Shelesh anywhere.......
"Neranj tev haavolanj!"
At least as far as my own work goes! I don't think it's used as a greeting so much as an exclamation though.
I've also got "Sleep with the stars" -- Sleefim'do tev neranj, and "****ing stars!" -- Skkutja neranj! and "Black star!" -- Pivos nera! as curses. There are a few more intimate phrases that I've used stars for as well...😁
Imagine a poster advertising for a beautiful and colorful festival on Aya.
I was inspired by the song “He Mele No Lilo” from Lilo & Stitch and thought: certainly the Angara do have regional, seasonal festivals and reasons to celebrate and dance. In some parts of Aya there might even be some kind of Hawaiian culture. Because - why the hell not?! :D There’s more than just dull military missions like in ME 1 - 3, there is life, history, culture, art!

That got your attention didn’t it? God I hope it did anyways

Hey there, I'm currently writing a fanfic about ME:A and while researching I kinda stumbled over your tumblr. And I'm so, so happy that I found this project about the angaren culture, biologie and language - especially cuz of the language. I'm triying to integrate some Shelesh in my story and your post really help a lot. At the moment I'm struggeling to find a word for the exiles (outcast, to cast out, displaced, expelled, s.o.) on Kadara. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks a lot.
Ooo, sounds wonderful! Glad to have you along for the ride. Exiles hmm, let's see what I have. The simplest thing might be to use vesegara - the term that the Roekaar use for all of the the Milky Way people. It's likely a repurposing of an existing Shelesh word. I have a general word for traitor too though! @uratowel
Vesegara - n, adj - uprooted people, or exiles, a derogatory term used by the Roekaar for individuals from the Milky Way.
shayfasan - n, adj - traitor, betrayer; lit. bloody heart
untao - n - an intimate bioelectric kiss, pressing the taon area of the jinesh together
ushey - n - a kiss, pressing your mouths together
The chest is a sensitive erogenous zone for angara, especially the knobby ends of the jinesh and the recessed area in between. Since the taon (bioelectricity generating organ) is located in this area too, bioelectric signals are felt very intensely. Taosovos (sharing emotions via bioelectricity) with your hand on someone else's chest is very intimate symbolically and physically.
